Nice. How'd the whole dealer experience go for you?

If it works but doesnt look good, I might order a cut down screen direct from Madstad.

Thanks all.
I have to say: best bike overall I ever had. And I had a few. Is it better at everything? No, likely not. But it seems to me the best overall package for myself. And the engine is easily the best I ever experienced in a bike. Re dealer experience: so far, mixed. Not good, not bad. Took quite some time for them to get me a realistic offer on my GS. The rest was easy. When I picked the bike up, the chain was too loose, but okay, better than too tight. Steering head seems loose, too - will mention that on first service. One question for the folks here: On deceleration, there is a pronounced "rattle like sound", seems to come from the exhaust area. I read some articles complaining about the same, so I guess it might be normal. But - is it really? |

2) mine were too. Seems to be a common thing. as you say, mention it to the dealer and they'll adjust at first service. 3) quite normal, although on mine it seems to have disappeared now at 12K.

Yeah, as said, I read from others that they hear "the same" or what I interpret as the same sound. My wife was riding behind me on her F650GS and telling me that she hears something rattling ... and she was at least 20 to 30m behind ...
I'll get used to it.Steering head - I read also that some seem to be loose. I don't have a centerstand, so right now this is "just a feel", not certainty as it could be the calipers / pads rocking. But it feels more like steering head, just from experience. Regarding nobody wanting the GS anymore - nah, you can say a lot about the Beemers, but resale value is outstanding. And people love them. I loved mine too, but wanted something with less weight and a smoother engine. Would have accepted the weight if they could put a 1050 triple in the standard GS chassis though ... The Explorer is just a size too big ... more in the GS Adventure weight class than in the GS class.

![]() ![]() ![]() I bought the Madstad mostly because I didn't want to chance buying a screen that didn't work. I know with the Madstad I will be able to find a setting that works for me at 6'-3". Being able to take the screen off in the summer months is an added bonus. If you are into aesthetics you can also take the "robobrackets" off, but personally I couldn't be bothered, it looks fine the way it is.

- GPS Mount (installed) - Windshield Adjuster (Triumph installed) - Heated Grips (Triumph, ordered) - Engine Bars (Triumph, ordered) - Hand Guards (Tiger 1050 including bar ends, ordered) - Gel Seat (ordered - if it doesn't work out I have my standard as a base for a rework by Bill Mayer or so) - Radiator Guard (Triumph, ordered) - Aux Power Socket (ordered) Have to decide on: - Rear Rack, thinking of the AltRider with Givi mounts - Handlebar Risers, thinking of using the XC risers - Front / Rear Fender Extender / Hugger - Maybe a Beak - can't decide what I like better, with or without and if with whether it's worth the money That's all I'll do for now, then decide on side luggage later. Might just use a Giant Loop bag that I can easier transfer between bikes. |

Luckily, not really. Yes, there is some money in there, but I actually got more by selling my accessories I had on the GS as I traded that one in bone stock.
Yes, I'm loosing money there - I know that. But overall, I'm also quite happy that the Triumph accessories so far are much cheaper than most I bought for the Beemer. Overall, I'll put about the amount of money in the Tiger that I get from the accessory sale and I'm good to go. Even hard luggage is then accounted for if I really want it. |

Very few people make money via motorcycling. Think of it as using your assets to purchase happiness. Well spent!
