GPSCity in Canada is having a Boxing "Week" sale which includes the Montana 650 for $499, the 62S for $289, the Oregon 550 for $329, Canadian Topo maps for $69, the Nuvi 550 for $199 and much more but I don't see the same on the US site.

Pn 60
Anything good or bad to say about the DeLorme PN-60?
I have seen them on sale and they appear to do a good job (of advertising at least). Are they actually any good for off-road? Thanks, Dave |

Wondered this myself, you'll probably get a better response posting outside this thread, however.

It's a bit late in the day but if anyone's looking for a Montana 650, GPSCentral.ca in Calgary has it for $469 Canadian until January 20. Hopefully that's inclusive.
And they also have a special bundle including Canada Topo for only $20 more. What a steal for $489. Check the "Special and Rebates" link on their page for details.

Mala Suerte, I love my PN-60w, with the exception of 1 thing. The screen is small. If DeLorme understood that there was a market outside of GeoCaching, and produced the same unit with a larger screen, say the size of the Garmin Montana 600, it would be the perfect unit.
Most everyone says there is a steeper learning curve to DeLormes Topo USA and Topo NA software, but really, it's only that the curve is different that Garmins'. It isn't steeper or harder, just different, but once sorted, it makes perfect sense. Another great part of the package is the fact that you can use the same software on your PN-60 as your buddies PN-30 and his cousins PN-40 and my PN-60w. I have used the SPOT device with the PN-60w over about 6k miles so far. I only got it originally to put my wife at ease, though I came close to putting it to serious use last September in BFE California somewhere east of Bishop when my bike stopped running. After about 40 minutes of trying to restart, noticed that my engine stop switch was not looking right, the rocker halfway to the off position. Had already sent my wife a "Having problem, bike not running" text, I then sent her a "Doh, all okay" message, and an hour and a half later, explained on the phone what had happened. She told me how relieved she was to see where I was on the map, and to here and see that I was on my way again. Anyway, great unit, great software, tiny screen.
