Here are a few of around Apache Gap that I got a few years ago.

I wouldn't want to have anything bigger than a 450 in there, but that's just me.

I want to get down and run that on my 450 I have heard that the arroyo is a rock crawler trail that might be fun on the trials bikes

Lodging/Home Base

Anybody know of a good location/venue to base the October ride out of in T or C? Thinking it'd be nice to have a spot to do a little Not sure where that's feasible though.

This last trip we stayed at the Oasis. The namesake which, as it turns out, is quite ironic considering the generally odious nature of the place.

The 'easy' route would be the Motel 6 and Comfort Inn just off I-25. They're next to each other and are both reasonably priced.

The other option would be one of the hot springs hotels in town. But, I have no idea what they're like and it appears most are not cheap and a limited number of rooms.

Any opinions?

Details

Details forthcoming. But, the basic format will be 3-days of riding (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) with various route options. Will post tracks once we have things a little more firmed-up.

Hoping to nail down a 'home-base' location by end of the week.

Alot of the AARP gang stays at the DesertView.

I've stayed at The Riverbend, but the price keeps jumping up.

At one time there was talk of staying in Kingston at the Black Range Lodge, but in general it was consider too far from the riding areas.

I will be at the Pelican Spa Apts weekend of the 24th. Price of rooms are $60.

The Pelican is nice, I've stayed there a couple of times despite its ... reputation ... :ymca

( ... not that there's anything wrong with that ... )

The Firewater is another nice hotel, a few bucks more will get you a private tub in your room After a less-than-ideal stay at the Oasis last time, I think I'll be spending the extra coin for the Firewater next time I'm in TorC.

+1 on the Firewater Lodge. It has a courtyard good for Oh, and, if you didn't like the Oasis, you're not going to like the Desert View.

I might possibly be able to join the October ride! Iím riding one of my DRs down to the Lower 48 in August and will eventually ride it to El Paso in October for storage and future fly/rides when I canít ride up here in Alaska.

I visit my mom and stepdad in T or C two or three times/year and the numerous riding opportunities in N.M. look fun (and dirty!) and I always miss having my bike to ride while Iím down there. I was going to store my bike in Albuquerque, but that area sometimes gets snow and cold temps in the winter so I decided El Paso would be a better option at basically the same distance. I havenít looked at storage options yet, but if anybody knows a safe place close to the airport, let me know.

Iíll be in T or C in early May, bumming about being bikeless in that warm sunny area after enduring a long, cold, snowy winter, BUT, after October Iíll have my fun-loving DR down there to ride around on!

I wouldn't leave anything I remotely valued in El Pashole While you take the chance of a bit of cold weather leaving the bike in ABQ, you will also open yourself up to more riding possibilities in the non-winter months.

You should post up when your May visit approaches, as some inmates in these parts (not me) have extra DRs in their garages
