If anyone can offer up use of a tire changer, or some expertise, I pay in wobbly pops or good company.
![]() My wife wants to have her front tire on the SV changed out, and I don't know if I can just spoon it off, or if I really have to pay a shop to do it. We have the tire already, it's a half used unit from my Triumph. Well, someone else has the Triumph now, but I still have the tire. They have a tire, oh you know what I mean.

I just looked up the process for those fancy pants street bike wheels. I don't think my ol dirt bike tire spoons are going to work.
![]() Maybe it's worth just paying someone, and I should stop being so darn cheap.

To give you a little. Credit, I think the Wolverines was their High School Mascot, and that is what they called themselves.

It isn't that bad. I did my V-Strom last fall. Two things you have to be careful of. First, trying not to scratch the paint on your street wheels. Second they need to be balanced. I bought a set of rim protectors that worked quite well for $5-10. (They are reusable). I opted for dyna beads instead of wheel weights. I have about 1500 miles on them and they ride real smooth. I'd be happy to help you if you still want to do it yourself. Send me a pm and we can set something up.

Ktm
After buying the 800GS, I sold my trail bike (Yamaha WR450). Now I regret selling it and considering going to a KTM. I dropped by Edge, the new sleds are nice, but damn pricey. I know alot of folks on here ride KTM's, On the used market, are there years or models that I should stay away from?
![]() Thanks for the input.

I've owned many KTM dirt bikes. Assuming you're talking about '98 or newer bikes, there isn't really anything to "avoid". Just know that with each year, like all bikes, there are little gremlins and issues that need to be addressed. I assume you're talking about a 450+ sized thumper? If so, the RFS (Racing Four Stroke) motor was the main motor up through 2007. In 2008 is when they made a major change. The RFS motor is a solid motor and a lot of guys will specifically seek out that bike and not want anything newer than 2007. In 2010 I went to the ISDE in Mexico (pit crew....not racer) and one of the guys on the USA Team (who could ride any bike he wanted) rode a 2007 525 specifically so he could have the RFS motor. All the newer bikes are great as well, but as you've noted come with a hefty price tag. I think that new 500 EXC looks like an amazing dirt-worthy, barely street legal, steed. No real specific years to avoid, just know that whatever you end up buying (new or used) will require some tweaking to address whatever gremlins are specific to that model year of bike.
