Pics of your girl (the bike I mean...) and of any ride on it are always appreciated...!

Just bought my first street legal bike a couple of months ago. A 2001 KTM Adventure with 7,000 miles on it. I love this bike. Super fun ride. From hwy to single track, it does everthing.

The 640ADV is a very unique ride, for many reasons. I think it would be great for you if you can ride one of these rare machines before you decide, preferently 2005+ (I'm almost sure is the last reviewed year by KTM), since it's very different to all of the other brands' bikes in the same segment.
On the other hand, what Slackmeyer says it's no nonsense at all. The LC4-E is almost the same bike, It offers a less crashable fuel tank if you are planning to land discomposedly , but it sacrifies the tall fairing and the double headlights, and the double break discs (which are excesive for full technical riding anyway). Personally, I still prefer the ADV version, because I ride long off road distances, and when I need to pass over technical paths, that girl put a smile on my face.

Are you complaining with yourself for thinking about hwo a bike looks? what should I say aboutme then? I made some changes myself to mine, but keeping in mind they must be as functional as nice (for me, of course). Why can't a good machine be also a beauty...? I love how it looks.

I agree with Low594, it's a bike with character, but in may case is far from being ugly

what front fender and guards do you have on that bike?? its I nice high fender look

Greg, is a KTM stock front fender, Part Numbers: 7730801000004, 7730801000020, 7730801000030.

For our bikes, I just had to make teflon spacers to mount it, making it a bit lower in order to keep it far from the exhaust pipe.

About the guards you mention, don't get which ones, sorry, please tell me more about them (no tank guards, and the hand guards are the stock ones).

Cheers!

Due to your tears... it's not to buy a 2007, is it? better times shall come upon us.
On a 640, on a 950, on a Giant or on foot... just keep the Adventure alive

Cheers, Alec.

The 640 is a great bike.. Probably a better bike than the 950 in my opinion. But the 950 is my true love, and the two bikes are so similar.. It's like having two of the same bikes.. So one of them have to go/change. So either I'm trading the 640 for a Duke, or an SM, or an EXC, or if nobody buys it, I'll just keep it. As there is no way I'm ever going to sell the 950.. I know.. first world problems, but I'm still sad about the 640, as it gave me very nice memories, and interestingly it had lot less trouble than the 950 had ($$ fixing, that is)

Sumi, "first world problems"... yo are so centered, a feature not seen as usual as one might desire.
But, you know, I think there's also another angle: no matter how much you have, a lot or just a few... downsize by a 50% it's always a hard one.
Anyway, it's reasonable to look for a totally different ride, if you have two somehow similar bikes.
Glad it's not as bad as it seemed at first sight!!!

Cheers!
Alec,
