Georgia Tent Camping ???

Hey GA guys/gals

I'm looking for a decent place to tent camp around the Hillsboro GA area. I'm looking to do some DS exploring in the area and need a place to set up camp for a weekend.

Any suggestions welcomed.

THANX

Only because nobody else has offered any ideas, I just looked at my map. I'm not at all familiar with the area.

Indian Springs State Park and High Falls State Park just to the west both show campgrounds. I've visited neither place, but I've found state parks to be a good bet overall.

But also since you'll be right in the heart of the Oconee National Forest, you should be able to set up your tent wherever you'd like, as long as it's not in a place where camping is specifically prohibited, and I think it has to be some certain distance from the main roads.

I actually go DS Camping every Easter weekend as it's a 3-day weekend for me. And I was looking for somewhere different this year.

Looks like this is a lost cause. I did locate a few spots via internet but was hoping to get some first hand knowledge. Especially on some local DS roads...

It's all dirt roads down there brother.

No such thing as a Forest Service Rd to speak of; just red dirt and dust.
