Hmmm... i would have thought a 185 70 or so would have been better due to taller sidewall to allow more flex along with narrower tread pack would be better but I have never run anything but m\c tires on the bike so what do I know.

When considering a heavy touring bike i did some research on the subject and if one was bought i'd give it a go.
But on a bike 300# lighter i am kind of surprised that it is considered/used.

The owner of Traxxion test road a new Goldwing and it uses a flat profile Bridgestone 180/60x16.
He did not like it and said the bike was to his liking with the older type profile.

Someday i'll have to read over at stromtroopers i guess. For a long trip on a sharp gravel road like the Dalton...

Are you putting the tire only on the back of the bike or do you put it on the front also? You have to run it with like a third of the air pressure right?

They just run them on the back, and most often around 20 psi, which is usually about half the recommended maximum.

We had a guy show up for a ride with one of those things on the back of his FJR. We warned him of the sporty pace but he insisted he'd be OK. He made it up to Lost Lake in one piece, though his Bank Angle Sensors got jacked up a bit. He finally took it out into the weeds (or in this case saplings) on the way back out. The big sled was wedged, well, more like nestled, between two young firs with the the pilot still in place. A few of the fellows helped to push him out of there, with the bike only slightly worse for wear. Somewhat chastened, the Darksider headed back for town (via the Freeway no doubt) the minute we hit a road he was familiar with.
Moral of the story? Just because you could, doesn't mean you should. Spend your money on good tires and good times, then at least when you bin it it won't be so blatantly apparent that you were asking for it.

Sounds like the chap was just a big fookin poosey. He should be dirt trackin that thang around the corners.

I've had car tires on the the front and back of my 96 Vmax for 10 years with no traction issues.
