Most likely I'll be heading down Thursday afternoon and finding a place to camp around goblin valley, then heading to Hanksville (or wherever) Friday, with the intent of being in Moab Friday afternoon/evening.

My father in law is meeting me in Moab (he's coming from Vegas). He wants me to 4-wheel with him. So, if you come down with me, I can't really entertain you the whole weekend, but we can certainly ride there and back (Saturday).

I'm still around and lurking in from time to time.
I'm riding every afternoon during the week to and from work.
I'd like to get in on some weekend rides, but my vacation time is earmarked so I'm just a weekend warrior.
Looking at Kev's ride, but only the weekend part.

Ooh, this was gonna be part of our ride and hike trip, but we skipped it do to some bad weather and time. I was bumbed, but it looks like it might have been a good thing.

This is an internal list for the BLM from the local office. Me and a friend happen to be on it. My experience is that it is a little conservative but is often a little conservative. However this particular one looks pretty serious and I think I know exactly the spot...

I'm curious how bad/snowed in Left Hand Collet is. That is the 20X better way to go down there. It would a little bit of a handful with a big as bike like a 1200GS but still totally doable.

So, my older brother (41) died about 18 months ago--pretty shitty deal for my family, especially after losing our dad at 57--but I got to Vegas for spring break to visit my inlaws Friday and 2 hours after getting here (and asleep) my brother in law called to tell me my brother's son (15) passed away Friday night of natural causes. You can read about it in ksl if you want.

I'm not really sure what to read into this, if anything. My sister in law is left with two girls (10 and 8); all the men in her life gone. My poor mom who's been alone for 12 years has watched her husband go, brother, aunt, son, and grandson.

Anyway, just wanted to pass it along. Misery loves company.

I'm on the list too, I re-post it as often as I can on ExpeditionUtah for others to see, its been very useful for those planning trips in the area. The NPS/BLM are always very conservative but they have to assume the travelers are 100% newbies in a rental Dodge Durango

I met Scott via Ryan when we were on the Outdoor radio show with Chris and your bro. We were on it a couple times talking about our Utah 4x4 trips and your brother was such a fun guy to chat with, man did he have passion for bird dogs. It was very, very sad and shocking to hear of his passing. Fast forward and I'm at breakfast with RyRy yesterday morning when he details the situation with your nephew, unreal man. Keep your chin up and remember that there are a lot of people thinking of your family during all this.

Scott is a good guy and I miss him. You're right, he loved his dogs...and his family. For this to happen now, again, is too bizarre for me.

I'm pretty sure I've just given up on all this. I just don't know how much more there is to say/think/do. My heart is black now.

Anyway, stick with Ry, he could use a friend. He's as good as any and better than most. Couldn't ask for a better guy to be stuck in the shit with.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Look for the silver lining, my experience has been even through the darkest moments, something can be gained or learned, even if it is the realization of how many people care about you.
