Uggh, that sucks. I had a bout of that a couple of years ago. Amazing how much that hurts! Lots of daily stretching, rolling on the pain log, and 2 weeks off, and I was back in training.

So I actually got out and *gasp* ran last nite. Ya see... its my 2-year anniversary of my first hash ever today. Yup. Started hashing 29Feb04!
World Hash Day. Had a nice, short-ish run thru Fairfax, VA in the dark. I say in the dark cause my $40 super-bright flashlight is MIA. I had to make do with some hoopty halogen thing that I could barely see 3' in front of me with. It gets DARK in the woods at night lemme tell ya! Didn't roll and ankle or anything! (got lucky what can I say?!)...and my legs are sore this AM. That running thing certainly does strange things to yer legs! M

Hey gang, my body is back in order for running. :) I finished my first 50K on Saturday March 3rd. It was a really good time. The people where great. It seemed to me that most the people I met run 100 mile races and they where using this early season race as a prep run. :) I was running with a guy for a bit with several jackets on, he told me he was heat training for the Keys 100 mile run.
Good FOOD too.. well stocked aid stations. My legs are pretty sore, but I am obsessing over my next 50K or beyond! greg

That is fantastic Greg, congratulations!
![]() When my brother and I were waiting around the starting line just before our first 50k (Tahoe Rim Run), a woman was talking to us and it came out that we were "ultra-noobs". She got all starry eyed and said, "oh, your FIRST ultra!" like it was some rite of passage. It was. My crew isn't doing so well getting ready for our events in May (50k) and June (50M). My brother may have broken his foot a few days ago, not sure how, just heard the news from my mom. Hajime (the better half) has had some knee problems that have held her back for the past few months, she is just now getting better. I'm the only one doing ok, and I'm the oldest of all of us. If we can't pull it together as a group I will have to reconsider if I'm going to these events alone or not.

Well, looks like we are out for now. My crew has fallen apart with injuries and now my brother is looking for a job, so the big runs coming up are off the menu for now.
My brother and I might try to reschedule something for the Fall, maybe September/October. Gazoo, sorry man, I won't make the May run....

Sorry to hear that, but in similar news I'm out too. Been having way too much pain in the achilles area. After a 6 or 7 mile run I'm in a lot of pain, and after only 14 my foot basically feels like it's just dangling there. Don't know if I did too much too soon or if there are other complications. I've taken time off to let the pain go away and then some, and it still comes back and hurts for days after a run.
Doctor's appointment in a week and a half to have it looked at. Will have to shoot for another time. |

I went down for the trainer a few weeks ago in the Dolly Sods. The course was really tough, but I love it down there, so I think ill try and drag my body down the trail for 40miles. The Trainer was on the first 21 mils. Lots of water and bouders. :) It killed me. Anyhow, the second 20 miles are supposed to be a tad easier. May 12th there is another trainer.!
