ADV rider pet peeves... "buy a dirt bike if..."
Sometimes I find the off handed quips on this forum to be a little irritating.
There are several that really bother me, but the worst for me is "buy (I have) a dirt bike if you (I) want ot go off road...." I hate the idea where these folks dismiss the idea of wanting to make your pig handle better in the rough stuff. It as if they expect you to trailer a quiver full of bikes with you on the way to Cape of Good Hope or Tierra del Fuego. It seems to me that these people have no concept about what adv biking is all about (taking your one bike wherever you want to go (in my view)). If so, wrestling with the pig is part of the ride. What is wrong with these folks? Do they think that this is an xCross site? Another that bothers me "the just punch it" advice. Riding a fully loaded bike in a remote area of the planet precludes this style of off roading and sometimes trials style is the only option. So what are you adv forum pet peeves? and am I justified or simply full of it? Maybe this belongs in j0_momma.

Guys who don't believe that lack of throttle and momentum got them in trouble off road, or that they should have been on a more dirt worthy steed...then complain on the interwebby

Gonna have to say...
...the ATGATT Nazis. You know, unless you're wearing a kevlar onesie over a pressure suit, full moto boots, and an $800 helmet (to likely ride 3 blocks to the store), your gear is completely inadequate. Anyone riding in kevlar jeans, workboots and modular is no better protected that someone in short, flip flops, and ball cap, blah, blah, blah.
News flash - the only people who get any action dressed up like astronauts.....are actual astronauts.

If you come to the Internet looking for common sense, civility and consensus you are going to end up with a lot of pet peeves. The idiocy of it all is half the fun.

The folks that take a hard stance on an issue, even getting defensive, yet they have ZERO clue what they're talking about.

Riders who refer to anything that's not pavement as "off road" adventure.
If you can see a defined lane, it's a road. If it's been graded, it's a road. If you can see two effing parallel tracks, it's probably a road. When you see nothing but a flipping trail, then it's bloody offroad.
