Following this with great interest, the boss is having some kind of something that weekend (Tupperware party with no plastic) so it would be smart of me to vacate the place for the weekend.
I guess that's a semi-firm commitment, as long as ya have space for another tent. About time to visit the Cow palace for an elk burger anyway.

New update: if we have enough interest, inmate Barbsironbutt has offered to cater Sunday breakfast. She's got a spankin' catering cart with a griddle, grill, umbrella, and the lot. Likely be breakfast sandwiches of some sort, coffee, and cheerful service. I don't have pictures of the cart, but here's Ms. B on her K75S at Rangeley Overlook (a stop on the road loop.)

Yes Please
In. Also, I can confirm that there's a pretty good chance this man isn't a serial killer...or I'm not his type - either one. I stayed with him last November for a night and was met with nothing but hospitality and delicious food. Good chance I'll be puttering around the area the week before if anyone wants to try and make plans.

All right, already, no beatings for me. It will be fun cooking for a crowd and the ride will be good training for the two-up Wyoming trip :)

Just to note, if anyone needs/wants to arrive early or depart late, even by several days, that would be no problem. Plenty of space.

I've been told it's de rigeur to offer a sticker, patch, or something else on these rides. OK, it's now the 2012 RedNEK Rendezvous. The one found most for the region looks like this:
![]() Now, we could have a custom sticker made up. That could take years and cost thousands of lives. I can lay in a stock of these, and a few Sharpies. Folks will be aware you've been to the New Woodstock.

I keep getting emails that are taunting me into the direction of this ride, getting harder and harder to resist. Might have to put a few things on hold to make this!!

It looks like we are getting plenty of little bikes! Very cool! Just a note for those that have peanut-sized tanks: it would be highly recommended to pack a few liter bottles of fuel on board. There is plenty of fuel available locally, and I'll probably have a can at the Palace for emergencies, but we'd rather not have emergencies.

Having little better to do this afternoon, I went out for a pre-ride of the gravel route. The DRZ400 is over at Jackpiner57's place for a rack-ectomy, so I took the KLR. Things would have been a tad smoother with a bike weighing 100 lbs less. Some of the sections surprised me with how smooth and packed they are, even this early in the year. Some were still full conditions. I was surprised to find a formerly gnarly hill at Long Pond (which is still mostly iced over) had been graded and rip-rapped, and so could be done in third. I was also surprised to find the route ending in a skid yard with a mud embankment and about a foot of corn snow on the road. If I'd been on the light bike, I may have ventured onward. Wrestling a KLR isn't fun in the best conditions, and I was alone in the woods.
I was amazed how pretty this route is, however. There's few places one can ride a tunnel in the trees.
