Trying to help my wife make the transition from riding behind me to riding beside me. I bought her and my daughter a TT-R225. My daughter (she rides horses,too) really took it. My wife finds it too tall and hard to hold up. I'm thinking something like a 500 Ninja, V-strom 650 or 650GS would work well. She has a 30" inseam and weighs around 140.

The VStrom 650 is a HUGE bike for someone not that comfortable with riding! Especially if she thinks the ttr225 is too tall!

Maybe a ninja 250 is a good place to start. You can usually buy one uses and sell it a year later for the same price.

This is her VStrom 650 next to my KTM 950. The VStrom is lowered in the front about 1.25". This is her 5th bike. Not a small machine by any means.

30" inseam, we deal with that same problem and a factory lowered BMW G 650 GS works great for that!

My wife, Louise, got us started riding again in 2004 on Burgman 650s which we rode from Calgary to Montreal in 2008 for our 25 Anniversary. *Since then we both upgraded bikes, me to an FJR and her to a VStrom DL1000.

The only time she rides pillion with me is around town for quick trips and she's kinda tired, otherwise, she's on her own bike. On longer trips she'll be on her own bike for sure.

Here's a couple of pics of her from our last trip in August 2011 ...

This one is from the Run to the Hills camping trip we made with the local VStrom group ...

She's talking about doing a solo trip from Calgary to Ontario this summer too.

And as you can see she's a redhead!
