Many instructors are selling completely contradictory swing theories. Golf at the top professional level starts with individual athletic genius. No swing theory will elevate average talent to championship level.

it's a head game. all the "coaches" the pros hire, are experts on the physical game but the good ones keep the player's head straight.

I loved Bubba's comment about his 2nd shot on #10. paraphrasing...."I had a good lie and an opening and I'm pretty good at hooking a shot so that's what I did"

I was surprised to see him win, enormous talent but I've thought he is/was wired too tightly to handle the heat. Bubba proved me wrong, he stayed in the moment, playing one shot at a time.

And that shot on #10 in the playoff was out of this world. The only other guy I can think of who might be able to do that is Mickelson. Just wow.

all of those who've achieved title-level status have pulled off similar feats. I've seen Tiger do it too. (not this week tho. ) It's what one has to do to get to that level. For some, there is a personal motivator behind it....Phil's wife beating cancer, Bubba's new baby, etc...


everything he said in the post tournament interview last night indicates the focus required. when he was down earlier in the day he mentioned
"I just had to keep grinding out the scores" He knew what was needed and drew on his talent at the time. Bubba has probably hit hundreds of shots like that, or tougher than that in his golf career...what differentiated him yesterday was his ability to do it when it needed to be done.

I'm wondering if Oosthuzien missed the GIR on #10 because he just missed, or because he played safe because he felt Bubba didn't have a chance from where he was. He put a little too much on his 3rd shot and it left him above the hole...tough, tough putt from where he was, not to mention the stress after watching Bubba drop it on the dance floor in 2.
