My first snowy crash
Never been in snow before until yesterday. Learn quickly what to do to make it through the rest of the snow to get to the view of Vedder Mountain while out for the annual Dual Sport BC Newbie Ride on March 25th 2012. Great time, great weather and good group to ride with. No damage to me or the bike....just another part of learning!

Saw that coming.
Combination of ruts, pot holes and a closing dirt track. BTDT Plus the pulsing tail light of your buddy in front, slowing, slowing. Glad you are AOKAY.

Good learning VID
Keep riding, the crashes are easier in the winter w/ all the extra padding & snow. Just don't hit a boulder inside a snow drift. By summer, you'll be wanting to put #s on your bike.

We ride all the time...been to many places on and off road...what I liked about this ride was now I know what to do with the bike, clutch and brakes while riding in slushy snow...each outing I learn something new based on the conditions. While the basics are the same there are certain things one needs to focus on depending on the terrain and conditions. All becoming second nature but never to be taken for granted.

Better get used to it.
Big bike, crappy tires, snow.... I once made the mistake of riding with some friends on atv's in the snow, in the mountans, on my xt250. Even with knobbies, I fell down about 100 times that day. They never fell over once. |

If it makes you feel any better I had a "Running Dismount" on Sunday.
I lept over the bars and landed on my feet but the bike went down hard. It took a while to get it running again. Glad you're not hurt. Q~

Crashes always sound worse than they are. You sure seemed to make some hard contact with mother earth.

Are you all planning anymore long trips? Your journalism of the Alaska trip was awesome. Me and the guys at Delta Airlines would read your blog every weekend at lunch time. Fred.

The snow was not that hard and neither was the crash. RE-painted the crash bars a little and all is good. Yeah and we ride over 14,000 KM no issues with the Tiger 800's and I blow it in snow!
We might be going away late summer just waiting to hear back from another bike company but we are also planning a wedding for August 2013. Ours!

No deal with KTM..that was who approached us...I think all their money goes to MX sponsorship...they said get in touch in Nov 2012 for 2013. We will see....next August we have a wedding but hey wouldn't it be a nice honeymoon if KTM wanted to partner with us in 2013?
