Love the utility hack Max. I hope you obtained the shopping cart legally.
I really want to build something like that to extend the riding season past the time when the snow flies. I think I will need a different bike however, My worn out Suzuki GS doesnt like to start when the temp goes below 50 F or about 10 C to you guys across the pond.

Bought an original MZ "lastenwagen" for the winterhack to use instead of the platform.
Been looking for one for a while now on the German ebay and now found one only 40 kms from here ![]() ![]() Seller sent me these pics yesterday ![]() ![]() ![]() I told him I'd buy it and picked it up today All rust is just surfacerust, already sanded one insidepanel, will do the rest tomorrow. Then it will be painted on the inside so the stuff I take along n the tub will stay rustdustfree Bottom, no rot ![]() Worst looking part on the inside, now already sanded ![]() Wheelwell from inside tub ![]() Wheelwell outside ![]() Original sticker of the electric company it used to ride for in Germany ![]() Testfit ![]() Testfit ![]() Outside will remain untouched, nice patina. I took the tub off the frame it came with and took the platform off he winterhack, fitted like it should and this way I don't have to do all the measurements for toe-in etc

( CLICK ) it is at least 40 years old ( 1971 ) but maybe I can track the year it was built by the chassisnumber. Incredible that it's not rotted through, all the nuts and bolts came loose without a problem

Spent a couple of hours sanding down the inside and then my wife painted the inside with dark blue Hamerite ( She used to be a painter ), very nice color
![]() Ammobox with 2-strokeoil, sparkplug etc: ![]() I bolted the DDR-sign over the holes of the original taillight: ![]() I ordered a new taillight, the same as the one of the tug. I can put it right above the DDR-sign, at the same height as the one on the tug. Think it will look neat. ![]() Adapted the steeringdampenerbar: ![]() Took it for a spin............... man is that tub light ![]() ![]() ![]() Had my hackwheel in the air on every right turn, spilling precious gasoline over the tank ( and my crotch ) so took it back home and bolted in my heavy little helper: the bar of lead I made for the transportplatform ( I melted old lead into a checkerplatebox, about 30 kilo's ):![]() Waaaaaay better. Now I can take right turns and decide when I want to fly the "chair"

Nifty rig, I dig it. Wouldn't have thought it'd be so light from the look of it.

Been busy yesterday and today, working on a lid for the tub.
Worked out very well I think Inspired by these pics I set to work ![]() ![]() Maskingtape in the edge for protection of the paint, trying out how to bend the corners with angled aluminum strip ( what's that called in English ?? ) ![]() Made the entire rim ![]() Clamped the -very wobbly- strip to a large piece of diamond/checkerplate and marked the size to be cut out: ![]() Testfitting lid and hinges: ![]() ![]() Poprivetted the rim to the lid, made spacers for the hinges and made a rack from scrap on the lid : ![]() ![]() Knob for a grip and 2 locks for shutting the lid ( locks are for fastening a hardtop to a Suzuki Vitara or Tracker as it's called on the other side of the ocean ![]() Large eyes for strapping stuff to the rack and reinforced the hinges: ![]() Done for today

Forgot I also changed the mount for the steeringdamper because I could not get my big boot easily inbetween sidecar/bike and mounts. I chopped the excisting mount ( which I already altered the week before ) and took the top mount for the damper from the bottom tree to the frontforkleg. From ![]() to ![]() And from: ![]() to ![]() On the forkleg it's on the topbolt for the breakcalliper. Both side on Heim-joints. The bolt on the bottom is not bent, something went wrong when welding the bolt ![]() Steeringdamper is on wrong way arouind in the pics, already changed that ( was the first job this Sunday, had it fixed before 9.00 am
