I REALLY like the white frame/white wheels...She's a beaut.

I've been riding motorcycles for many years but this is my first Ducati.

I have a life-long friend that's a Ferrari Mechanic that's also a Ducati enthusiast and was told that I really couldn't go wrong for the price I paid.

I'm looking forward to a long relationship with this machine.
Lucky man it seems. How much did you buy it for?

Mine for 9 years and about 17,000 miles. When I brought it home my friends and I would sit around drinking beer and drinking in the details.

I sold my first one to buy a 996. I sold my second one to buy a Hypermotard. I'm guessing there will be a third one...

It didn't do anything "really great" but it didn't do anything "really bad" while the coolness factor was way up there in my opinion - dual cans, decent fork, goofy mini-fairing - I'm glad I owned one.

I think it was Ducati's attempt to lure owners over to their product line with an entry level machine so they would eventually upgrade to the real thing. Not a bad decision and not a bad machine to do it with.

My insurance for that bike was really inexpensive.

I had a '95 SP that was a bit of a beater but still ran like a top with the CA Cycleworks FCR kit and Arrows. One of my favorite motorcycles and regretted selling it.

Happy to announce I've acquired another '95 SP, this one in outstanding condition, with the same carb kit, FBF pipes, an upgraded rear shock and a bunch of other goodies. I had that same familiar thrill riding it home, it's such a satisfying bike, and this one is as clean and well-sorted as they come.

I'm back in the cult!

my 96

bought a 96 900ss/cr in april of 2009 with 4600miles, now have 9006 miles.

heard much about 900ss frame cracking near the headstock but saw nothing until i used a 10x mag glass and LED flashlight. found a hairline crack last season that may have been there for years. duc shop owner and his maint dude couldn't find it. prof welder suggested it may be better to watch, rather than weld the crack.

option 1.) simple tig repair may/may not induce local stresses, and post-heat treatment to address this may scorch head bearing lube requiring replacement. welding may/may not cause elec fritz somewhere even if every connection is unplugged. paint matching would be a guess.

option 2.) adding gussets will require full disass of entire front end (with electrics), then matching paint or complete disass of frame for paint.

i scribed the mark, no propagation.

I rode one of the real 900ss' at the tender age of 20. Belonged to a friend and I had it for a week. (similar to this, but blue)

It definitely wasnt a bike for wimps. There was an art to starting it, it growled, whined, bellowed flames and sounded like a shotgun firing. It was worth it though. It made enough noise to rattle windows, handled like an express train on rails and had enough vibration to give girlies a wet gusset.

You were totally fooked if it rained though, as it either wouldnt start or had the coil short to the frame which was interesting to say the least.

My 1994 900SS. Originally purchased new in Germany by a British soldier, he brought it back to the UK in 1996. It was sold to a good friend of mine in 1996. I prised it off my friend in June 2009. Other than servicing and belt changes, no reliability issues.

I really REALLY need to quit looking at this thread. I've been lusting after one of these for a long time. This one looks exactly like what I want. When can I come pick it up?
