So I saw this 1977 BMW R60 on Craigslist, and had always wanted one, so decided to go for it. I was working my first "real" job, and thought that the time was "now!" I'm a little impulsive when buying things sometimes, which usually pays off, and when it doesn't, I just sell it afterwards. This bike happened to be 500km's away, but the seller, who was pretty straightforward, mentioned that he had had quite a few calls about the bike. It was 5 in the evening Dec 23rd. I called my friend, borrowed his pickup, and headed north into -17 degrees celcius weather @ 5 the next morning with my very new GF. You can probably see the rubbermaid tote in the back. I'll get to that.
![]() I picked up the bike not knowing what to look for, but was a sucker for it, I knew I had to have it. $2000 bucks later, it was mine. We loaded it up and headed south... right into the heaviest snow I've seen in years with a P/U that had some shitty all seaons (what a stupid name for tires that are anything but). If anyone has driven Hwy #1 between Hope and Cache Creek, you know how the road falls off into the Fraser river canyon. Somehow we kept it on the road for about 20km's as the snow kept piling up, until we saw what? Bright lights at the Lytton campground? How convenient! I ran into the store and asked the woman how much to camp. She told me that there were no sites, the campground was closed for the season. I told her that I was going to be camping, whether or not she took the money or not, threw some $ at her and headed out to the far far end of the parking lot, broke out the Rubbermaid, and set up the tent and got to cooking on the stove I brought. Xmas eve dinner was some wine, KD, and broccoli. I gave my GF the down bag, and I took the too cold synthetic. ![]() Went to sleep and woke up to this Xmas morning ![]() except with a lot more snow, because this was the view before I went to bed. Never licenced the bike, it needed SOO much work that once I had it running, I just wanted to get rid of it! Still with the same girl, and she still loves camping. Bought her her own down bag too! |

17, i am for sure buying this tent. i'd never thought of putting the bike in long ways. i plan to use the vestibule for 'living' space--cooking, dressing and stuff.

It is the 'redverz expedition'. My wife gave this to me for birthday when I told her that I wanted a tent that I could stand up in. Also I kept leaving the bike cover at home.
I put the bike in sideways at first, then tried it lengthways. The bike is about 7' nose to tail without the top case. My best set up time is 12 min. without staking all the lines.

haha yea I kinda like that tent who makes it. I usually travel with a cover instead. Big tent is nice though.
