"Bolted on" already implies "removable"

I don't know for sure but the Ammo cans I have lifted around are not light by any means. I would say alot more than the Jesse luggage I had on my R12GSA. Would be a cheap way to go and they re probably water tight... Don't look bad either.

Long time, but some guy spotted my rig today and seeing this page I thought I'd throw in my photos.

All you guys with pelicans and other massive cases and trunks. . . I respect you. I really do. But none of you are in my league.

Mk II case system.
The cases will not touch down unless the bike is on its side. The front cases are mounted on to the crash bars via U bolts. The rear cases are all mounted to a custom built rack.

And a few showing the Mk I case system
Used this for a bit, but the cases (1440 top loaders) were too small inside and I mounted them too low. The good part was that I could unhook them and then wheel them around stores and what not.

I put some soft panniers up front and it took a lot of the buffeting away. I would say try front panniers before spending a ton on windshields that don't work.

A fellow inmate donated an extra set of Jesse Odyssey II racks to me after I posted a WTB ad for some sidecase racks on the FM. I'd had these ammo cans sitting around forever and decided to put them on my Wee until I could afford something better. Ordered the mounting hardware from Jesse. Had to rig up a solution to get them to work, which included welding a piece of square tubing onto the backside as a spacer. The genius who welding them for me didn't take into account that the heat from the weld would warp the boxes. Getting the lids on and off is a little bit of a pain, but they've gotten me through 4 months or so back and forth to school and work with a safe place to store my laptop and books. Not real happy with how low I had to mount them either, but that's the best I could do at the time.

Mocked up with a bicycle U-lock mounted pelican 1550 top case...(budget quick release)

I'm finally ready to upgrade to a REAL pannier set now. Trying to decide between Happy Trail Tetons, Jesse Odyssey IIs, and Caribous. Pelicans hold a special place in my heart, but I prefer top loading and the looks of the aluminum sets. Also need a top case that will hold a full face helmet. Decisions, decisions...

I don't own a V strom, have the 41 litre TTs. They are awesome aren't they. Only problem you can pack way more than you need on a trip!!!!
