Really? Few towns have more excess hotel capacity than Indy. What else is happening that weekend?

I'm already signed up for this year.
I got in last year by responding to Ken's post - thanks Ken!Any of you that are sitting on the fence about this (or think Ken is blowing smoke) just DO IT! Indy and USAC run a first-class operation. This was the best weekend I'd had in a long time and couldn't wait to do it again.

I applied, have no motorcycle race worker experience, but have thought I wanted to start doing this when I retired fully and had the time. Hope I get the opportunity.

![]() I booked my rooms about 12 miles out of town, but downtown Indy is where the action is except for Saturday Night for the Mile. BTW, call the promoter directly and pick your seats to save a lot of money. In my impatience for a return call, I went ahead with Ticketmaster and they not only ripped my face off with fees, but I really couldn't pick my exact seats. The two companies I hate more than Goldman Sachs are Ticketmaster and Stubhub... ![]() Oh well, see yah there! Whoot!

Excellent and thank you! By the way, I've been staying at the Motel 6/Speedway, which is an absolute dump but it is very cheap (in every regard) and very close to the Speedway. This place was once on the USAC recommended list but its so crappy, USAC won't list them. Way I figure it, its a step above camping, its got flush toilets and during race weekend it fills up with our Brethren, a majority of which are NOT chrome-laden cruisers!
If you can find a better place that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, go for it. If you get desperate, I'm sure they will have rooms. Its that shitty.....consider it an adventure!

Embassy Suites North still has rooms available...even though the price jumped from $119 a night that it has been the last 3 years I was there to $179. BUT... all of the rooms have a sleeper sofa along with a king bed in the bedroom.
I hate being on the fence about this as I want to give Ducati first dibs of my services (worked Ducati Island last year) but the view is definitely better from corner worker stands!

We have attended 3 of the MotoGP races at Indy and each time stayed in a different part of the city. Last year thanks to Uncle Duke we worked at the track and reserved a room at the Airport Ramada, it was a suprisingly great choice. Great room, great location it put us about 10 minutes from the track with a really easy drive, they have free breakfast if you want it and for our 4 night stay it was less than $350.00
![]() There are a few hotels in this area and you are within walking distance to a few resturants as well although if you are working at the track they take care of you reallllly well when it comes to meals. Just thought i'd throw this information out there, i've made our reservations once again there and had no problem getting a room at all.

I'll be camping in the toy hauler. Got room for one couple or a dude. If any one wants a ride out from the VA and setting up across from the track in the free camping area.
A'int deluxe accommodations but help with the fuel to get it there and you are welcome to join me. shower, terlit, cooking, AC, and a place to sleep. Can't beat it. |
