Hi Ladies!!
Brand new n00b here. Took the MSF course two weeks ago and received my official license in the mail yesterday with my "CY" endorsement, so it's time to hop on board here. I've always wanted to ride, but other priorities wouldn't allow. Now that mid-life "stuff" has taken hold, it's time to be a little more selfish. DH currently owns the bike I'm using (I will refer to her as TBB - "The Black Beast"), but she will be all mine hopefully very soon when he gets his new ride. Hand-me-downs aren't such a bad thing in this case. ![]() I do see some Michigan ladies on here, so perhaps we could get together one of these days so you can show me your style on all these dirt roads we have here!! Once I feel more comfortable we will venture out on longer trips as a family (we have 2 young boys) and meet up with more of you!! Been in Michigan now for two years - moved from Milwaukee where I was born and raised. Looking forward to learning, sharing, and just having some plain 'ole fun with you all.

Hyder is a fun little town and if you go beyond Hyder the road takes you to Salmon Glacier. I was disappointed in Skagway....much to touristy and didn't have the AK "feel" that I was looking for. Hyder did have that feel. Haines was OK, better than Skagway but again pretty touristy these days. The road to both is a great road ride though with fantastic views. I'd go to both again just for the ride but not so much the towns. The ferry from Haines back to BC was a blast going through the inside passage. Where ever you go have a great time.

Hello and a question
First I just want to say Hello to all the adventurous women here! If any of you are from MD or PA and are looking for company to ride, let me know!
I'm the proud owner of a new DRZ400! Just finished breaking it in and did my first dual sport event this past weekend. Got a few pointers from the guyz....one of which is to get some different boots with a good tread. I read through a couple of the equipment/boot threads on this forum but have a question that I could not find answered there. I found a couple of models I liked (Sidi Adventure Rain or Gore-tex) but the challenge is that I need a size 39. It looks like the smallest Rain model made is 40, but the Gore-Tex is made in 39....the problem is I can't find that size anywhere online. I called the importer in California and the smallest size he imports to the US is 40. So...this leaves me looking for a different boot or calling around to friends in Europe to try and find a size 39 over there...so, any suggestions would be appreciated! (and by suggestions, I mean sources for this boot in my size or alternate boots with good tread/waterproof/shin & ankle protection) Working on some other 'adaptations' to my bike like raising the bars, lowering the 35" seat height, and putting some REAL tires on the thing so it can engage in a little bit of mud. Thanks in advance! Expat2b screwed with this post 05-08-2012 at 05:13 PM |

personally, I wear Gaerne boots a size bigger and they work just fine. Here's actually a great pair/price and they ship worlwide. So, even with shipping these boots may be a great deal: link maybe we really should get a womens riding/gear/modification forum...

What does everyone ride?
How do you like it? What do you like best about it? What do you like least about it? Personally, I ride a Yamaha XT225. Love the low seat height and the light weight, starting to dislike the cold blooded nature and gutless motor. |

So, Gypsy, what'r you gonna do about that "cold blooded nature and gutless motor" on your XT225? Sounds like you might be inkling for a change.....
