A BEHEGO.com Honda CRF rear tank converted to a Suz. We have done the same here locally on a Kawa KLX450

(Behego is the guy from the Aprilia, BMW, Husky and Honda Europe subframe tanks).

Lots of "movie wheelies" in there....At least they used four stroke motor sounds. I hate it when they get that wrong.

Fretigne announces he is heading to Dakar '13 with Yamaha ...

"David Frétigné est de retour chez les bleus en vue du prochain Dakar"

Funny, I thought he was associated with SpeedBrain

Yip but since 2009 he has been unable to complete/finish so I'm not surprised he is no longer with Speedbrain. He was always a Yamaha guy anyway.

I just hope he does not crash himself into oblivion this year..

Wonder if Kemal Merkit will be back this year as well? Glad to see Pavey is preparing to have another go.

Lovely custom alloy tank on Si's new Husky there Dox - thanks for the photo!

As for new bikes - I also spotted this little number - actually on the RPA (Rally Pan-Am) website:

Looks like Meca'system have produced a version of their CRF450 kit to fit the new 2012 EFi WR450F...

Looks a bit ugly in plain primer white, but I bet that set-up will work a treat!

Yup, spy photo ;-)

Meca'system says it may be available in July.

Not a fan of the looks. Curious about the reliability of the new EFI WR450 under rally conditions.

Needs a name. The Bald Eagle rally kit?

Hee hee - I can see a yellow high level fender fitting right in there!

As for the WR reliability - the engine is basically unchanged from the previous generation (it is not the reverse cylinder type used on the YZF), simply with the addition of EFi... so it is the same bullet-proof lump essentially.

I can certainly vouch for Yamaha's EFi reliability and fueling on the XT660Z Tenere - it was seamless right off the bottom, and I rode one across the USA and back again in 2008 - over 21,000 miles from way below sea-level to the top of Pikes Peak - and it was utterly reliable in every sense. I then took the same bike (with some upgraded suspension) from Paris to Dakar in 2009, again utterly faultless...

I think these days the Japanese manufacturers [Well, Yamaha and Honda at least] have got EFi totally sorted.
