I tend to look at pictures first and then read after, and when I scrolled down to the first picture of you after my first thought was "Wow this guy could use a sandwich"

I feel kind of bad now that I read the story

Glad you're okay though!

You're like that parachutist whose chute opened only partially and then he landed hard and knocked himself out directly on a fire ant mound.Major broken bones from the impact PLUS 1000 Fire Ant bites. Talk about double wammies!

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

I have spent a lot of time living and working in LA, and have always had a real uneasy feeling about overpass exchange intersections like the one you flew from.

I was in Northridge CA in 94 right after the earthquake, (used to work disaster recovery with the Red Cross) and stood right at the bridge where the motor officer lost his life after the bridge collapsed beneath him (likely never knew what happened, or at least I hope so) it had to be a good 90 feet down.

I have never liked this sort of interchanges, either on a bike or in a truck. And from your experience, I think I have a good reason to feel that way. I also hate being stopped in traffic underneath one, been at disaster sites where bridges have collapsed onto other bridge decks, being crushed seems to be as nasty as flying through the air.

Damn, you are one lucky guy. Sure good to see you enjoying life again as you seem to be doing. Right on, keep doing it.

Holy fuck dude! To see you riding again after that proves you are indestructible, both physically and mentally. You are Superman.

That is remarkable. I had a crash as well that changed my life, though it didn't turn out nearly as serious as yours.

What I learned, like you, is that I am alright with my life and who I am. Time is completely relative; you can relive your entire life over the time span of 3/10 of a second and 2 feet horizontally at 50 MPH.

Holy shit. You, sir, are the example I shall keep in mind whenever I'm mistakenly thinking that I'm in a situation I can't deal with. My hat s off to you.

Reading this story about the family who lost their lives when they fell off a bridge in New York ( reminded me of your accident. I'm amazed yet again that you survived.

Wow. I ride that freeway quite a bit, and will look at it so differently now after reading this thread. Amazing, and I'm glad you came out ok. Well, you know what I mean. That was a remarkable story, and photos. Words can't explain it. I don't think I will let my wife see this thread or I will find my bike sold when I get home from work someday. Thank you for sharing your brave and scary tale.
