I have one of the last Jesse very large top boxes and plan to transfer that to my next bike, presumably an Explorer in the next several months.
Panniers, huge top box in place of a passenger, tank bag, an electronics clipped onto the bars has been my standard mode for a decade and has worked well. YMMV. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?pddo5n

I'm a tad under 5'8" and the bag blocks my view of the ignition key. No interference with the instruments at all.

Peninsula Triumph in Port Orchard, WA got a gray launch edition yesterday. Quoted me $16,999 for it, $15,999 for a standard. Even as the owner of my 3rd Hinckly Triumph, I have to admit for that money in that genre I'd go for the Yamaha Super Tenere. The Yamaha is a couple grand cheaper and I'll gladly trade the Triumph cruise control for the Yamaha's spoked wheels.
Unless of course the Yamaha buffets the crap out of me and the Triumph doesn't... |

Of course the fix for me was a $125 windscreen - so, on the dollar side you still come out way ahead... Do love the looks of the Explorer, and I'm sure it's a fine, fine ride, but I have no regrets getting the Tenere. YMMV... |

I did. If I buy extended warranty at the time of bike purchase they offer 2 additional years for $950, for 3 - add $100, for 4 - add another $100... So, for 7 years makes $1250, 2 years of Triumph and 4 whichever company dealerships use. Also, only OEM warranty covers ABS, for extended you need to pay additional $120 one time per whichever plan you choose, or something...

Friend of mine, an owner of K1300GT with 37500 miles has clutch basket disintegrated and locked bunch of stuff inside. BMW Warranty good till June 2012, but exceeded 36K limit, $3000 out of pocket - which is rough estimate... Show stopper for him and shame on BMW...
