Mt. Si in North Bend, WA
Took my new KTM 990 R out for its first day-in-the-dirt today. Nice easy ride out on forest roads behind Mt. Si in North Bend WA.
It was a little wet, and some light rain, but in great shape. ![]() After the larger bridge crossing, the road was washed out a bit, and a nice creek forms the way across now: ![]() Nice little waterfall behind the new beast: ![]() I couldn't be happier with my new bike, much more fun than my R1200GS in these conditions. ![]()

Dude, where is that? I totally would've gone with ya. A nice easy ride is Middle Fork if you just want to tear up a road. We need to organize some riding out here.

North Fork
This is the North Fork, a few exits earlier than Middle Fork. Look on Google maps and it starts almost directly North of North Bend, labeled NF-5700.
Let me know if you want to ride up there together, just PM me!

Great looking area and bike. I rode past on 90 a couple of times saturday, I ran the KLR out to Mattawa and thrashed around in the dirt for a couple hours mostly looking for some sun and warm weather then buzzed back home to Sequim

just signed up last night and what do i see. a thread about my home town of north bendover. where is it washed out? i believe that is sunday creek. kinda funny, the county had that road closed down for a long time to replace the bridge. i used to fly up that road all the time. that and middle fork, out past truck town. f.s. road 9030(?) used to be a good ride, but it to washed out about 3-4 yrs ago, and the forest service will probably not fix it. a shame, its a nice ride way up into the mountains.

Anybody run up Tinkham Rd (NF-55) ? Was wondering how far you could ride until you hit snow ? Hope to find time on Sunday to go check it out , weather guessers say it will be a sunny day . Might have to run up the middle fork also .

I was up there last week. You can drive the whole lower road with some snow in places but passable. Tried going up the NF5051( I think) and couldn't get far.

i got stuck up there about two weeks ago in my pickemup truck. im sure by now with the good rain we had its more passable, especially on a bike. too bad they gated up past that little shooting area they have up there. you used to be able to ride all the way up to the watershed boundary. if you like exploring go up to stampede or just east of hyak. that will take you over to the boat launch by kachess. all sorts of roads to get lost on

What a fine day for riding ! Ran up Tinkham Rd and then tried Denny Creek rd , but it wasn't open just a little ways up toward campgrounds . Had a snack up at the pass and talked to a couple of single riders . Had to take off a shirt and open vents on jacket . Then on way down I started up middle fork road , good dog for all the yuppy hikers and their Subaru and mini suv ! Turned around after only a few miles . Wish I had ventured up a few offshoots of Tinkham instead .

Went again
It was in the 70's and sunny in Seattle area today, and as any local will tell you those only come a few times a year.
![]() After a long day of work, I ran quickly up to North Bend to get a little off road ride and admire the views... About half way down FR 57 ![]() Towards the end of the road, a feeder creek to the North Fork of the Snoqualmie River ![]() Decided to go all the way to the end, but was thwarted by snow, and the temperature dropped about 20 degrees...

I was there Monday
I was up the North Fork of the Snoqualmie on Monday on my 990 Adventure and got turn around in the same spot on the RH fork because of snow. Turned around and took the LH fork and hit snow again. Pretty cool ride though. I think it is a toss up between the Middle Fork and the North Fork for scenery. I believe the North Fork road is in better shape

I went up to Tinkham today and went up 5510 route, made it almost 2 miles before snow. I tried exit 45 and was able to run the lengths of both roads without issues.
Alright, so now who wants-can ride this weekend? Where? Let's go. |
