What's the general concesus? I always read the 883 was a dog power wise but that was in regards to the "Iron".

Looks like itd actually handle well, and man, is it good looking....

I'd say you did well.
And you don't know half of the story! But seriously, it was well cared for (although not mint), and lived in a garage its entire life when not on the road.

I won't tell you what I had to fork out for my mint 2001 NH750! Ironically, a Maryland bike.
Mine sold new to the PO in 1995 for about 4000. I'm guessing you paid a mint, for the mint!

BTW, nice find with the backrest/rack. You must be thrilled!

IIRC, that yellow sticker says it has a weight limit of 6 pounds. You can safely ignore that!

Congrats. What did you end up getting for it?

Looking forward to pics of the 750 when you get it all sorted and cleaned.

I got what I paid for it four years ago, $1,000.

Picked up the 750 last night. Rode it home on the Linc last night, 110 kph in fourth gear, oh my sweet music. getting the safety hopefully on Wednesday, my next day off. Register it the same day and it's off to the races. I figure I'll go to Ultimate cycle and have them throw on some new front brakes for me, they feel a bit soft. Oil change and shaft drive gear oil changed while I'm at it and call it good.

I'll get some pics up, she ain't perfect, but she's got it where it counts. Although my 2 year old daughter did say "Oh Daddy, it's beautiful!".

I am fairly new to my 2001 Nighthawk 750, so I don't know what is normal. I have noticed slight rings on my lower fork tubes. No dripping or wetness, more like a very slight film. It seems be the same on both sides. Is this normal? Most of my previous motorcycles had fork gators, so I never took notice of whether or not the lower fork tubes had any film on them. BTW, the vertical white lines on the lower photo are the effects of the flash. Both tubes are perfect -- no scratches whatsoever. I am assuming that a very thin film of oil on the forks is normal, because the seals do not remove or 'scrape' off all of the oil from the surface of the fork as the lower tube slides up and down.

You worry too much, that's perfectly normal in my experience.

You are probably right :)

On the advice of another forum member, I carefully pryed off the dust covers to see if there's oil residue on top of the seals -- indicative of blown seals. Thankfully, inspection reveals no leakage. The seals are bone dry. All is well!

After seeing Deadly's "Wee hawk", I was inspired to someday find one myself. Well, I finally did a couple of weeks ago and now am enjoying it. Not sure how I ever missed a do it all bike like this before...

Found a 2000 750 with 1730 miles on it. Apparently, it was used for one year then sat for eleven. When the dealer I purchased it from got a hold of it it had done:
  • Carbs all rebuilt
  • Tank drained and flushed
  • Lot of cleaning
  • New air filter
  • Oil change
  • Lubed of chain and sprockets
  • Replaced tires

I've added:
  • Lots of elbow grease
  • Another oil change after putting 350 miles on it
  • GPS
  • Temp gauge (outside)
  • Windshield
  • Engine guards
  • Center Stand
  • Bags

I think all to do next is continuing the clean-up and someday add a Corbin saddle.

It doesn't get any nicer than that! Well done and congrats.
I thought I scored with an '01 with 5045 miles! :)
