What bike do you want today?

There are so many, but as of recent it would have to be this monster, though I realize I have no where close to the experience needed to handle this bike

I was going past a Yamaha dealer a few weeks ago and noticed the Yamaha demo truck was there so I stopped to kill a little time. I ended up riding a Super Tenere and an FZ8 since that was the two bikes that I figured I actually come the closest to riding. They also had a V-Max there to demo and I was tempted just to see what it was like.

Now, I'm not one to knock the object of another's desire, but the V-Max never did it for me personally. BUT, I couldn't resist my curiosity, so I did swing a leg over the demo for a feel at least. I must admit that I was VERY pleasantly surprised with the feel of the bike. Just walking around a looking at the bike I had the impression of size and weight. I t just looked to be big and unwieldy. But once in the saddle it suddenly felt much smaller. Then when I hefted it off the side stand, expecting it to be a chore, again, I was pleasantly surprised with a bike that felt much smaller, lighter and more agile than I ever expected.

Still kicking myself for not test riding it instead of one of the others.

It's still not my cup of tea from a styling perspective, but it's possible that I may have enjoyed riding it much more than I would have ever suspected from just looking at them.

This thread, and others that are similar, are very cool to me. I get a big kick out of other inmates passion about bikes that I wouldn't (or haven't) given a second look at.

My wife asked me an interesting question: You can have any bike you want, free of charge. The rub is that is has to be the one and only street bike you have for the next five years. Any and all other street legal bikes you have have to go as part of the deal. Do you take the new bike?

I love the SMT, and the RC8, the BMW HP2 Sport, etc. But I'm really not sure that I would take the deal...

She had me at "free of charge." I'd get a Road Glide. I could be happy for five years on one.

Yeah, I'm not really a wheeler, dealer type anyway when it comes to motorcycles. I MIGHT be able to find one bike that I could be happy with for 5 years. BUT, she lost me on getting rid of the bikes I already have. Nah, can't get rid of the pristine '84 RZ350, nor the '76 CB400F SS, or even my '93 Ducati 900SS. They don't get ridden but I don't think I could let them go for just a new appliance, no matter how cool it might be.

Then again, there was a time that I really enjoyed going out into the garage on a beautiful Sat. or Sun. morning and the biggest problem I had was deciding which bike to ride that day. Variety really is the spice of life for me I guess and I while I know that my main ride now (R1150GS) satisfies most of my needs in a bike, I still like to have a choice of being able to scratch a different itch.

Nah, I'd have to say no deal...

I've got a serious case of MBS. Including the two I usually ride there's a total of 7 bikes in the stable. Sorry, the spousal unit would go before the bikes. It's obvious that he/she doesn't understand a major passion in my life.

Hey I was talking to this bloke who had a big orange KTM at the servo the other day and when he filled it up he had put in 31 liters of fuel, he said it has 2 - 22 litre fuel takes, does anyone know what that model is called?

I just saw the Softail Slim tonight and I really like the looks of it

I saw one of these in real life and was struck by the line of the thing, far prettier than the usual GS and Sertan and Dakar sort-of off road versions. The only handicap, I see is a two gallon tank. I have no use for this machine but what a great ride it looks to be.
