I prefer using the spiral type piston pin clips, they will not come loose.
Not sure if they are available for the scout piston pins (a bit smaller dia than the chiefs?) though. One of the standard type circlips came loose some years ago, and made a mess of the forged stroker piston in my chief engine.. $$$$

I love the warning on that screwdriver. I'm afraid that would not fly in my shop.

He says in the ad text that 1000Nkr was just added as a start point..since he has spent so much time on the project that it was up to the buyer to come up with an offer.
Looks like the ad is gone now..

another 101 update......
I picked up the last few bits I needed at the Oley PA AMCA meet. Includied, was a new rear sprocket. So I went to swap them out, and I realized that the sprocket that is on the bike was not the correct splined one, and had been WELDED onto the hub! SHIT! But I checked it for slop with the new chain, and it isnt worn that bad, so screw it, I left it on. ![]() ![]() ![]() heat treating a new axle nut ![]() got the motor/trans installed ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and the dash I got at Oley

I hooked up the oil & gas lines, & it started!
ok, it took a few kicks, because the carb was out of whack with the fresh motor. I let it heat up & cool down a few times & retorqued everything. I let it sit for a few days as I was out of town, & when I got back, there was gas under it. the petcock was closed, it was the tank that was leaking ![]() these tanks were soldered together, 84 years ago. I've has problems with it leaking in the past, & had fixed it with JB weld, which always did a pretty good job. But, I guess it went bad or separated. a repop tank is a grand, if you can find one. So, screw it, I'll line it with caswell & hope for the best one place you dont want to find a wet spot..... ![]() ![]() ![]() so I did it carefully, as I dont want to mess up the paint ![]() ![]() sloshed it around for a bit to cover everything, and drained out the excess ![]() then tonite while that dried, I made a wiring harness. I'll have to let the sealer cure for a bit, but hope to ride it soon

I needed another project like a fish needs a fucking bicycle.
But, I have been hunting for a Sunbeam S7 for years. All the ones I found were either overpriced, or sold before I could get em. Or people that have them sitting, wont ride them, but wont sell them. So I found this one last week. Looks to be almost all there. its a '53 model. I rode one a few years ago & fell in love. they are really nice riding bikes. maybe next winter I can build it. ![]() ![]() ![]() oh, and a purple norton seems to attract the pussy ![]()

Can a Sunbeam make it to __________?
Looking forward to seeing you in a video riding the Indian. The guy I told you about who had the potential donor for the "Dirtster" is having it "professionally restored". His wife wouldn't let him sell it in the end. |

AMCA - didn't even know about it. We'll be at the RDV this weekend, which is a little over 100 miles away. Maybe I'll try to sneak down on Friday and say "Hey". You should stop by Laurel Springs since you'll be so close. |
