Just about every other tree lining the trails in Michigan have the bark knocked off. Many of the turns are very tight and the ground sandy so to ride well you have to go pretty quick for how tight it is (even more so on the quad tracks). This makes it easy to not look far enough ahead or get over your head really fast.

Very fun though

the rear tire is what I imagine you are asking about. It's a Dunlop D803 trials tire. They are tubeless, but I run mine with a ultra heavy duty tube and 2 rim locks. Run it around 6-7 pounds and it hooks up like velcro on literally everything. But the are horrible in snow and wet mud. I can get about twice the use out them over a traditional knobby because they simply dont spin out like a knobby does. Riding them is a little different also, but they cant be beat on tight singletrack or technical riding.

I have done an enduro with it once and didnt like it on the high speed gravel or cement roads. due to the low air pressure they can get pretty squirmy.

And I have found this recent, excellent footage of the trail by a very good rider who has "aced" it!
See the canyon run from east to west, both sides of the canyon.

Having run this trail with a Triumph 500 mx and an XR500r, I now think I have the wrong type of bike for this!
I mean GEEZ! this looks like a breeze...
