Tried putting these up yesterday, My mate on his '07 FZ6, just clocked up 40,000km and he will take it more places than some would take their dual purpose bikes. And he is pushing 70. Who said u need a dual purpose bike. Haha

The FZ is a great gravel-road bike. Keep the revs down so it doesn't go bananas, and you can powerslide around with the best of them.

Throttle body sync gave me a large improvement in idle and throttle quality. I built my manometer for under $20 with the instructions on fz6-forum. :)

Cortech Super 18L Tank Bag
I agonized over which tank bag to get, and I'm very happy with this magnetic Cortech Super 18. It fits the FZ6 like a glove. Cost about $115 at my local dealer.
Pros Not too big, not too small Looks like it was made for the FZ6 Very high quality, easy operating zippers Sticks like glue to the FZ6 tank, VERY stable and secure Cons Small-ish main opening Small-ish map pocket ![]() ![]()

In addition to picking up that tank bag, I just got e-mail confirmation of the shipping of my Cee Baileys windscreen and Givi toprack and PLX sidecase rack mounts!
Pictures when I get 'em mounted...

FWIW, ready to replace a rear BT023 after about exactly 9k miles. Would have gotten somewhat better life if I had better roads here. Couple thousand miles of full-on superslab, and a lot of city riding as well in that duration.
Nice round profile, good wet performance right up to the end, buying another one. For $130 from Dennis Kirk, it seems an obvious choice. Maybe I'll go easier on the throttle this time around and shoot for 10k miles, but that seems highly unlikely.

![]() This is definitely one of the milder, tamer threads around here! There's little of the general abuse tossed around some of the others!

In!
![]() Got my license plates today and the bike about a week ago. My bike is a red 2007 with 2800 miles in very clean condition, $3900. I really am tall at 6'7" and plan on doing a good bit of highway driving so I did get a madstad windscreen. Takes away from the sporty look of the bike for sure, but it is a nice screen and it for sure has made a difference at highway speeds. Almost got clobbered today driving on a circle highway off ramp by a driver behind me who I guess didn't see me. I really didn't need that on day one, but hopefully it wont be a regular occurrence. Anyway, looking forward to learning more about the bike and getting some good day trips in! |
