Far from it. A Ural or Dnepr is a blank canvas to make whatever you want. They still race Urals at the clubman level in Russia and people turn them into choppers, cafe-racers, sport bikes, off-road bikes, quads and so on. Custom outfits are rarer but there are a few.

http://www.kbmtc.ru/Mirag%20kolaska.htm is one example.

Some 2,3 & 4 wheel Urals.

Some of the stuff the Russians do to Urals is pretty amazing as is the Italian cafe racer.

Is the Italian Cafe Racer built by Irbit or by an Italian dealer? Like the Wolf sidecar done by the European Importer at Linz

Some customs done by russians:

Pretty sure that Italian was an Irbit creation. The parts all look factory and I have those same 650 solo pipes on my Patrol and they are a factory item.

It was done by the former Italian importer in the late '90s. Based on the standard solo but with Italian mudguards, tank, seat taillight and blinkers. Shows just how little it takes to make a bike look totally different. Lots more photos of the bike over at b-Cozz.

I rode this bike before Jim pulled it down and made it what it is now. He'd never been in a side car, and asked me if I'd take him for a run in it. He wanted to get the feel of riding it and sitting in the chair before he started working on it. Jim is a stand up guy, I'm sure you'll get a lot of miles and smiles out of that bike.

Oh, and thinking back, that was the first time I rode a Ural.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on my first ever sidecar but I'm still checking ads & seeing things I like - as ya do. So yesty while thumbing through for sidecars in the latest edition of 'Just Bikes' I spotted an ad for a 'Ural Destino Custom' with a promise of more pix on their website.

Here it is, freshly for sale:

And tonight I've bumped inta this thread! Hey Chnnang, have you given up on the purchase?
