Goggles and such!

This is the old dudes thread so here is an old dude story.

I am 20ish and out for my first ride with the local guys and meet up a some parking lot. OH God this reminds me of FBM and many n00bs we have met... Anyway, I have a silver pot helmet, and sunglasses, jeans and lineman boots fully laced and a blue denium shirt and jeans jacket. Decked out for the day. (circa 1968) and the old timer in the bunch see me and goes to his truck shaking his head. He returns and walks over to me. He politely removes my Ray Charles Sun Glasses, folds them slowley and stuffs em in my pocket. Then he pulls out a pair of rubber goggles (looked just like avaitor goggles) and told me to put em on. I swear he looked at me and said
"The woods will get them eyes. Let it have the arms and neck, but keep them eyes protected."

I cannot tell you the number of time goggles have save my face if not my eyes.

Buy good ones and wear em...

I kept those goggles until they actually melted...

That's a good story and its moral isn't lost on me. Ya won't see me out there without goggles again...

Helmets?

Maybe this should be in the Pee leak bitching thread but anyway,

Here lately I have been switching from street to dirt. I wear a different helmet for each. We guys I find I prefer the street helmet to the dirt for comfort, fit, noise reduction face protection etc. It just dont look cool, and it is heavy. Then throw in the mix have talking between riders and you really appreaciate the road helmet... much quieter and easier to talk and listen to other guy.

So who knows. Maybe I just dont have the right dirt helmet...

Just my old man ramblings...

BTW guys remember I have a 530 for sale.... ridden by a 60 year old only on the weekends going past Bethel and New Hope churches.... cream puff bike ....

Tony - what the hell man? Well, you are an Ineptizoid, and well, getting a chunk of something in your eye isn't surprising - especially when you are fighting for last place! (or hitting a log at speed either).

Brought a stray home with me yesterday. Thinking about a swap for my F150. I have gone about 9 miles with it and I have mixed emotions about it. Long story short here's the CL from my friend. There's a lot to explain about it but, what the hay... It's an OLD short. Novas weren't always my cup of tea. I figure that at least they have some sort of usable trunk.

May hit quiet fest with her. She did lite up the tires on a rolling 15mph start. The powertrain is pretty solid. Love the exhaust system. Rumpeta, rumpeta -- all the way out the the back. And the AC system isn't too bad either.

1972 Chevy Nova - $9500 (Niceville)

For sale is my 1972 Chevy Nova. It's been my daily driver for about a year now. Runs great. It's not a show car but it's in good shape. It's a 20 footer and could probably use paint but looks good as is. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't pull up next to me and give me a thumbs up. I have about $15,000 in this car. $9,500 OBO. Serious buyers only. Steve - 850-three5three-4zero52

The good:
New 300 HP GM crate engine with less than 8000 miles
Ceramic coated Hooker headers
200-4R overdrive transmission (gets 27 MPG HWY/16 MPG City)
New axle bearings
New rear brakes
New rear leaf springs and bushings
New front manual disk brake setup w/new master cylinder
New steering box and tie rod ends
New poly body mounts
New front suspension bushings and ball joints
All new door seals and window felt/scrapers
New Vintage Air heating and air conditioning.
MSD 6a ignition box and Billet MSD Distributor
Vinyl top is in great condition

The bad:
20 footer. Could use paint and body but looks fine for a daily driver.
Doors are pretty rusted around the interior seams. Fixable but probably easier to replace if you plan to restore it.
Two cracks in the dash pad, but a new one can be had for about $200.

More pictures at http://www.theosbornfamily.com

Just lowered my price from $11,000 to $9,500.

Hey George,
Vic also has responded about the MX pants. I probably just need one pair for now as it is just for a visitor and after he sees how much fun it is riding he may need a second pair but hopefully not because he ruins them with my bike! Whats the price? PM me.
Thanks,
DB

I currently live in South Alabama but grew up about 10 miles from Cheaha. I can plot you a pretty good route from just north of Mobile to Cheaha and back. Evergreen to Cheaha is 3 hours +/-.

You're welcome to park your cage and trailer at my place if needed. I'm less than a mile off I-65, 95 miles north of Mobile.

I wasn't thinking of going that far west more like starting in Dothan or Eufaula Al.
