I was told today (in the UK) that Blackberry are pulling out of the consumer market and focusing on their Business output. I assume this includes the Playbook.

One of the original questions was, can you download pictures from a camera to it?
Unless I missed it, so far there isn't an answer to that.

This was a question my wife asked at several electronics stores, with no real answer.

That I guess is not possible, unless the playbook has USB OTG support.

For that an android tablet is a better option, if your camera has a microSD card, you can just put it on the tablet, and copy them with a file explorer.

No I can't right now, I try but it doesn't see any devices I connected to the USB port, I was very surprised. It can be done but to do it you need to modify it and I don't want to do that. Rumors are (if you can believe the internet) that when the BlackBerry 10 is release something this year, the PlayBook will also be updated to OS10 and we will be able to read sd cards and access other devices like a camera, that would be great. But I took photos using the PlayBook, unloaded the pics to picassa and posted the pics in forums without any problems. Accessing the internet by tethering your cell phone also works great.

Anyone try any brackets out to support the Playbook?

I have the Blackberry cover/prop, if that's what you mean. Seems to work OK.
