I mean the one by the Merc, tho there is more than one restaurant in that shopping center. Maybe they changed names, because I thought the sign on the door says "Placitas Cafe." The sign on the bench on the east portal definitely says "Placitas Cafe." I will have to investigate tonight.

One week and counting down until "rib fest 2012" the crappy but needed weather will be gone and a good time will be had by all, that is an order!

Any particular brand of beer you want to trade for your old BBQ? I will arrange for a case to be delivered.

See all you nutjobs on Saturday and Sunday.

I was a stones throw (if it was from a 950's roost anyway ) of the Captain's house today. Did a little pre-ride scouting on the mesa before the lightning moved in . It's going to be some damn good riding!

Pre BBQ Ride in Caja Del Rio

I want to gauge interest in a Saturday afternoon pre-BBQ ride in Caja Del Rio. I have a potential route laid out that is around 60-70 miles, entering on the east side at FR24/CR62 and exiting on Airport Road near the Captain's Casa.

The route is *mostly* 650-class friendly, with a couple of challenging sections Bigger bikes can do the route as well, right Dave? The pace will be relaxed, with sightseeing stops at the river overlook, the sinkhole, and possibly the RC airstrip.

I'm thinking that any interested riders can meet at the Honstein Oil on Airport road (ethanol free hi-test ) around 10:45AM, kickstands up at 11. That gives us plenty of time to ride the plateau and get to the Captains house for post-ride debriefing

Who's IN?

Last call for Colorado riders heading down that want to ride the slow, curvy, interesting way. We're leaving late Thursday morning, crashing overnight on Friday in Salida.

PM me if you'd like to join us.

Don't think I can get away Thursday morning, but I am trying to get away that afternoon. At the latest I'll be getting a very early start on Friday.

There's always the possibility that I will get The Call and would have to head up to Ft. Collins to pick up the Guzzi - and Friday afternoon or a weekend is the only day I can do that (Jeanne's work schedule and mine).
If that happens I'll be a bit later than I wanted to be...

Ok, last call for anyone headed down from the western slope on Friday am. I plan to leave Rifle at 8am, prob. go over Red Mountain, then Pagosa Springs, should roll into Ricks around 5:30, just in time for the dinner bell!!

And I am also taking the long curvy route. No comments allowed from The Muffin Man.

Hmmm...how challenging IS it? Comparables?? Do I have to be as tall as Dave to survive the thing, or should I ride that cute little pink bike I saw in pictures from last year?
