I just noticed this ad for a Harley/M72 hybrid not far from where I live..(in Norway/europe):

He says in the ad text that 1000Nkr was just added as a start point..since he has spent so much time on the project that it was up to the buyer to come up with an offer.
Looks like the ad is gone now..

another 101 update......

I picked up the last few bits I needed at the Oley PA AMCA meet.

Includied, was a new rear sprocket.
So I went to swap them out, and I realized that the sprocket that is on the bike was not the correct splined one, and had been WELDED onto the hub! SHIT!
But I checked it for slop with the new chain, and it isnt worn that bad, so screw it, I left it on.

heat treating a new axle nut

got the motor/trans installed

and the dash I got at Oley

I hooked up the oil & gas lines, & it started!
ok, it took a few kicks, because the carb was out of whack with the fresh motor.
I let it heat up & cool down a few times & retorqued everything.
I let it sit for a few days as I was out of town, & when I got back, there was gas under it. the petcock was closed, it was the tank that was leaking

these tanks were soldered together, 84 years ago. I've has problems with it leaking in the past, & had fixed it with JB weld, which always did a pretty good job. But, I guess it went bad or separated.

a repop tank is a grand, if you can find one. So, screw it, I'll line it with caswell & hope for the best

one place you dont want to find a wet spot.....

so I did it carefully, as I dont want to mess up the paint

sloshed it around for a bit to cover everything, and drained out the excess

then tonite while that dried, I made a wiring harness. I'll have to let the sealer cure for a bit, but hope to ride it soon

I needed another project like a fish needs a fucking bicycle.

But, I have been hunting for a Sunbeam S7 for years. All the ones I found were either overpriced, or sold before I could get em. Or people that have them sitting, wont ride them, but wont sell them.
So I found this one last week. Looks to be almost all there. its a '53 model.

I rode one a few years ago & fell in love. they are really nice riding bikes.

maybe next winter I can build it.

oh, and a purple norton seems to attract the pussy

Can a Sunbeam make it to __________?

Looking forward to seeing you in a video riding the Indian.

The guy I told you about who had the potential donor for the "Dirtster" is having it "professionally restored".

His wife wouldn't let him sell it in the end.

The guy's a little dysfunctional.

AMCA - didn't even know about it. We'll be at the RDV this weekend, which is a little over 100 miles away. Maybe I'll try to sneak down on Friday and say "Hey".

You should stop by Laurel Springs since you'll be so close.

Doug, do you ever make it up to the AMCA National in Wauseon or the AMA Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio? Both are in July so I'm guessing not since that's when you're usually on the other side of the pond.

I got the 101 tuned & running pretty good. I got a belt to hook up the new cycle electrics generator.
Got it all hooked up, but when I fired up the bike, nothing is coming out of the genny. WTF?
I had put the one off my 48 on it, as I knew it was in good shape. I checked everything, but no voltage coming out. So I called the guys at C.E. to ask their advice.
They say you learn something new everyday. What I learned today was, that chief & scout generators spin opposite ways. So, all I have to do is swap the wires inside. But, when I opened it up, the wires are too short, so I would have to solder extensions on them, and I figured that doing that would just be asking for problems.
So I stuck on the geo alternator that I had been running for 13 years. Yeah, it looks like crap, but it works.

Next, was the seat t bar was a bit sloppy, theres a bushing in there, but its a little loose, so I thought if I knurled it, it would be a little bigger, & take up some of the slack.

Im sure you are thinking that I put the knurling attachment on my lathe, but I did it the faster redneck way.
2 large files, a vice & a hammer

tap one end of a file, it rolls the spacer in the middle, & knurles it.

fits much better now

I also had the rebuild kit for the hand oil pump. I'd never used it, as its mostly for hard use situations, pulling a sidecar, climbing mountains, etc.
But, I had the parts, may as well put it in.

The old leather washers were a bit shot. They came out in pieces.

Works fine now with the new parts

I got the cannonball number plate kit in the mail, so now I can make the bike look official!

So last weekend, I took it for a shakedown ride, 400 miles in the smoky mountains. I had a couple leaks pop up, but it ran perfect the whole time.
