It seems like I have looked at a lot of pictures on this thread featuring people crashing their bikes with a passenger wearing a tank top and sometimes shorts and flip flops, and fake helmets.
But in the picture causing all the fuss, they both look to have spent a lot of money on gear.
I don't think you buy gear like that expecting to go slow, and you would not spend the money unless you planed on going fast.
I have seem many do a lot worse, riding down a deadly road on a chopper, girl in tank top and shorts.

He is on his side of the road, is not crashing, and I think some people just get old and do not like to see people having fun.

Or they know someone who has been hurt badly or killed by someone else looking for that adrenaline rush.

This may not be the best thread for you.

a hell of a lot safer than the cruiser riders on the wrong side of the road in a blind curve going 10mph half drunk on bud light swill with his mullet flapping in his overweight woman's eyes.

And, neither do you. You don't give the guy credit for looking where he is going and adjusting his speed and trajectory accordingly. In fact, you don't even know how fast he is going. Check out Yellow Wolf's pics sometime. He rides a Goldwing at about 35 mph on The Dragon (according to him) and leans the bike about the same.

You don't know whether the guy in the photo is married to the gal or not and you don't know if she adultly desires the speed he's going, but can't operate a motorcycle on her own. One of my friends has a wife who loves the very same thing. I know something about this since she let me give her a ride on my GSXR 1000 at a similar pace and encouraged more. We were going well, but stayed away from the maximum like this guy.

I don't think that the Harley Ultra Classic you ride gives you any ability to understand what a competent motorcycle can do. Your bike is beyond dangerous at the pace exhibited in the photo. To that point, Harley provides an SAE spec (SAE J1168) about their bike's maximum lean angle. Right now the 2012 Ultra Classic advertised is able to lean 33 degrees to the right and 31 degrees to the left. The SAE spec indicates that the load on the bike is 3/4 gross IIRC.

It's my opinion that you are judging he and his R1's performance on your Ultra Classics (and your?) meager abilities.

I'll give you the unknown darting thing. He doesn't know what may dart out. What you don't know is that darting creatures can be avoided on superior handling bikes than your Ultra Classic, but does take the ability to brake and change lines.

No....no, you don't and have merely applied your paradigm to his.

I respectfully request that you lighten up a bit. You and your bike are not the only metric by which the rest of us should behave.

All this said, I hope you have the opportunity to experience a really good handling bike. It's a real eye opener.

And lastly, I admire the love you have for your granddaughter...it shows.
