Humpty shoots off the ridge road to the right just past the cabins. Takes you all the way down to Clear Crk Rd. Wouldn't be a problem with your bike... you can also access Dagget Crk from an obscure single track on the Clear Crk side that would be quite a bit more challenging on a big bike.....

Thanks for the info! Yeah, there aren't a lot of mtn bikers that get that high. It's a serious climb!

Is Humpty marked with a trail number or any signage? I know right where the cabins are. We might have to meet up sometime so you can be the "guide"!

Yeah we should....Humpty's not marked that I know of, but it is accessed either at the gate (right at the cabins) or the secondish corner past. The corner past the last cabin does have a short steep section as it drops down onto the main trail bed.

Possible Warning: Late April, 3 of us were riding near the cabins as well when we ran into 2 ATV riders cutting and moving a downed tree across the road. Turns out one was a Forest Fuzz (Forest Service) employee and the other a Deputy Dog (Boise County Deputy I think). Anyway they were asking us where we were headed. Our group leader told them we were trying to find a trail he use to ride, really close to where you're talking about. Forest Fuzz and Deputy Dog told us we were not allowed to go down that trail anymore, as there are new forest trail access rules. They told us to get free "newer" Forest/BLM trail/road travel maps down at HQ, which would show us which trails we could take. Forest Fuzz made it sound like we were required to have a map with us now.

We did see a unmarked trail access with a fresh motorcycle track (near where you're mentioning), of which the Forest Fuzz was taking a picture of the supposed horrendous damage done by the motorcycle in the mud. Your trail may be ok, but just a word of warning from our experience in the area.

Here we go........ to my knowledge the only official trail on any FS map is 151 or 155 which loops East off the ridge road and into Dagget Crk. Most of those trails have just existed up there for decades and they are now getting around to declaring them as illegal?.... Total BS given that they have known about those trails all along. (FS and Sheriff's Dept.) Humpty might criss cross some private land up top, but I've never seen any postings.

Tyson - Just finished reading your thread cover to unfinished cover. Thanks a lot for the awesome reporting and photography, I've really enjoyed it! Looking forward to getting my Tiger 800 XC in the near future thanks to you and your inspiring reports.

Since you are no longer a CO resident, if you ever want to venture through the Denver area again, you have a place to stay and a garage for Hobbes.

Thanks to you for reading! Congrats on that post number 1 on ADV rider! I should get some kind of kick back from Triumph, cause I can think of four 800XC's that my thread has sold. Lots of great reports to come. Stay tuned!

I got the verbal ok today, and tomorrow I should have the paperwork in hand to make it official. Six weeks off during the summer of 2013 for Alaska with DAD! Depart June 15th, arrive home July 28th!!!

Now I only have a little over one year to wait.

It's always a great idea. Let's close off public land to the public. I hate tree huggers.

Sweet! It's getting to be quite the accomplishment to get though all of this. I remember when I first found this site and I became hopelessly addicted to reading ride reports. This website, and the advice of my little bro, was what convinced me to buy the KLX and move away from crotch rockets. I remember calling him one Friday night and asking if it was sad that I was home reading ride reports instead of being out partying. He was doing the same thing! Adv'er for life.
