i think the nut is ok to use again too. locktight and the washer is good insurance.

Hi everyone.

I guess a lot of you guys have a list of which tools to put in the toolkit for a longer trip (5000km:s). Are you happy to share the knowledge? Easier for me than to start ripping the bike apart just to find wich tools I need :)

The PO of my 07 Dakar installed some kind of aftermarket signal minder thingy...the farkle from hell!
The PO told me that the OEM flasher should be on the bike and I only have to unplug the aftermarket one...ha..aargh.
I have searched the BMW parts fiche and also looked through the BMW shop manual to find the location of the flasher relay...nothing I have found matches what I see on my bike.
Here is a photo of my panel by the steering head...can anybody identify the flasher unit?

Here is a photo of the offending malfunctioning farkle, has wires with plugs in both ends...where do these wires and plugs go?

only one way to find out.

the blinker flasher is in the first picture. not sure which it is but the answer is over on the chain gang FAQs if you look for info on LED blinkers.

The flasher unit is two pin ( mine is NARVA # 68249) it is as Kubiak says behind steering head in front of battery. The unit is in the middle between two loom plugs on the right and one on the left. Mine is + green/black and L (lights) blue/white. Remove the dash globe or you will have hazard lights otherwise rewire the dash globe with both wires going to two diodes and conect to one side and a new earth wire to the other side. This is because bmw earth the dash globe through the opposite side circuit. With LED's they will all light up.

Those two a pretty small...maybe one of them is. I have been on 650.com (chain gang) and not one photo or diagram matches what mine looks like. Did they change the signal flasher in 2007?

They are only the size of a normal relay, can't imagine they changed from the single spark. The LED flasher will run either LED's or globes. Be gentle when you pull it up as there's not alot of extra wire on them.

Strange mine only had one Thing in th middle. It was the fasher and it was bigger than those two.

None of my relays look like that, they are smaller and the numbers on any of my relays do not match the BMW part number I was given.

Yeh, that is what has me puzzled, I have two relays in the area where there should be just the flasher relay. Mine is an 07 Dakar, I have seen pics of the relay box right up to 06 but they look different.
