BTW Ben, just ordered a Wolfman Enduro Pocket, the Advrider code didn't work.
Said I've already used it once...just FYI.
We will look into that and give you the ADV discount today. Thanks for the heads up!

Just wanting a little information. Trying to decide which tank to get for my WR, the IMS or the Safari. Any input from anyone on which one works best for the WR?

thanks.

Here is what happened with the Safari Tanks for the WR250R.

Out of our last container of these we had about 15 of these that were mis-molded.

The fuel pump would hit the mikuni pump when inserted so we had around 15 of these tanks that were useless.

We tried ourselves to make it work. It wasn't even close...So that's why we do not have any of these left. We have not received replacements yet. In 6 weeks we will have these.

These both work great really. The IMS carries more fuel but is much wider. The Safari is much more sleek. Both are hard to come by right now. The 3 gallon tank is a really nice fit from IMS and seems like an OEM part.

I hope that helps!

Thank you both for the response. I like the idea of the 2 larger tanks to help protect the radiator. I will be calling to see when either one is do in.
Thanks for the response.

bought 2 ADVtanks for the KTM990 (for me and my friend), shipping was quick and received confirmation from the FF about the delivery.

5% discount helped out too...

thanks Tom.

KLR Safari tank install help

Hey guys,
I received the new KLR Safari tank from you last week, just getting around to installing it, but I'm having trouble getting it to fit. Any tips? I haven't been able to locate any one who has done this install. The instructions from Safari are a little lacking, ie. no pics of the tank actually on the bike. I'm struggling with the step that simply says "place the tank on the bike". So far, it ain't that easy.

Safari for the 08 TE450

I need the range for out here in the desert in Nevada, and the 16 liter (more like 17 at least) Safari tank fits the bill perfectly. The Corbin seat didn't fit at all, but the stocker fit just fine. I also needed to modify the cross-brace where it connects to the frame downtube, but that was an easy fix as well. The tank seems very well built and looks like it can take the abuse I will throw at it. From the riders position it looks and feels just like the stocker. It doesn't get in the way in technical stuff, hillclimbs or when I have to move all over it. I also have the monster on my TE610 as well, so that shows how much I like them. I've had opportunities to communicate with JustGasTanks and they totally rock

i'd love to give you guys some money, but nobody wants to make a tank for the ATK, even when i have a stock one for modeling and offer to pay a premium to have it made.

problem is a very small market, maybe 20 or so.

I just experienced the same or a similar problem and managed to fix it myself.
It could be that you issue was worse than mine but here's what I did....

Mine stock pump hit the little Mikuni vacuum pump so it sat angled so much I couldn't get the screws to start but if I leaned on it a bit it was quite close but then of course I didn't want to have to do that so....

Our Fix was to remove the Mikuni pump, cover all it's pipes with tape to stop metal fillings getting in and cut the top un-used mounting bracket off it.
I also filed a rounded edge on the pump for extra clearance.
Re-install the Mikuni pump and now my pump fits perfectly, no more rubbing, screws go straight in by hand. yay !

So anyone else having this problem could have a look and see if doing that might give you enough clearance to make it work for you too.
Having no idea how bad your issue was I guess it is possible that this may not be enough for your tanks, but though I'd post as I found this thread while searching to see if anyone else had posted of the problem.

Cheers

I would love to have a larger tank for my 1983 Yamaha XT550 but no one makes one (anymore). Is there any way to tell if a different tank could be modified to fit? One from a xt600 maybe?
