ReferJohn, you're welcome, and thanks for starting this thread. Like, are we an ADV "gang" now,??

Here's a pic, and some caption material, of my RK last Sunday, taken in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, entitled: "Got Wet. The End."

***********************************

Me 'n D managed to shake house chores this weekend long enough to knock out a hundred miles yesterday afternoon, some of it up on the Parkway, until the impending weather (we'd been watching it slide in on the radar all morning) chased us down to the Piedmont. We ran into our buddy Cowboy at the Lone Star, had ourselves an early executive supper, and crossed our fingers that we could get home in the dry. The place was full of bikes when we got there, but they were all smarter than us (including Cowboy) and got out while the gettin' was good.

Not much of a ride in sum (although some is always better than none), and I took a grand total of two photos in a hunnert miles. This is the better of the two:

All alone at the Lone Star...

Yep, that's all ya get. The End!

Here's my 2007 Police RK. It was never put into service, the owner of the dealership had it for a year and put 151 miles on it, then put it on the showroom. He does that a good bit here, he'll farkle one out, ride it to a few poker runs or something to show it off, then put in on the showroom. I almost sold it last week, glad I didn't now.

With Tourpack and fairing:

Here's a few pictures from yesterday, I pulled everything off and threw the windshield on. I think I'm leaving it like this for a while, I was having fun riding around without the extra weight handing off the bike.

Does anyone have any handlebar suggestions? It came with the wide and low 'beach bars', which I didn't like the feel of. My arms were too far apart, I felt like a kid riding a grown-ups bike. The ones on there feel fine, but I think they don't look right. When I ordered them they looked a lot different in the pictures. Maybe just buy a black set of stock ones, I don't know.

Jules: Those look like mini apes, and they do look a little odd, but not badly so.

Many find the Heritage Classic bars to be very comfy on a road king, and they are affordable also.

Thanks. I stopped by the dealer today and there was a Road King parked next to a Heritage, I ended up just ordering a set of stock road king bars. Either one was comfortable enough, I just thought the Road King bars looked a little better on the bike. Makes sense, since they are designed for it and all.

I really like that bike. Normally I don't care much for red, but that one looks good.

That is really nice.
That color looks much better than it does on the HD site.

Took my 09 Road King out for a 1500km (1000mile) ride this week, first long ride since getting it a few weeks ago.

Farmland near Cowra.

Sand stone gorges on the western side of the Blue Mountains.

Sunrise west of Gunnedah, central west New South Wales.

Railway crossing north of Dunedoo.

Great bike to travel on.....

Oh SHIT! Here we go again!

I JUST got my first Harley, an '07 Sporty 1200 Roadster, and now my palms are sweaty, my mouth is dry, and I think I want, nay, NEED a RK!

Can someone please summarize the changes over the years? For example, what year did the RK get the 96 inch motor, what year did it get the 6-speed, what's the story with the "updated frame", and what are the differences between a Road King and a Road Glide, besides the fairing??

By answering my questions, you will become an enabler of my addiction!

Thanks!
