Ninja 1000 Insurance
I have a N1K and for full coverage and it added $229 to the policy for the fifth bike insured. I have it listed as a pleasure bike, 3K miles per year and no passenger insurance, no health coverage and $500 deductible. Within a week after purchasing the N1K, I sold a KLR and a KTM and dropped those from my policy and the total outlay was $59 with credits for the two sold bikes. Next year I will expect a full $229 or inflation incremented. I may have to up the mileage because my first month I owned it, I put over 1000 miles on it.

'10 Z1000 = 500 full coverage per 6 months with allstate
24 year old - no tickets - no accidents - no other policies (everything else is USAA) Allstate considers it to be a standard - not a sportbike

It is a Ninja for people who have ridden Ninja's all their life, and now want comfort too. It's not a touring bike, a real sport touring bike, or a standard. It has the curb appeal of a "real sportbike". Not an expensive, exotic "yuppie" bike. You ride this thing like it was stolen, and you park it at "The Spot" and it says Ninja on the side of it. If you want a sleeper, a sport tourer, a sporty tourer, go buy one. But they scream "Im not a real sportbike" with the giant exhausts, oversized seats, tall suspension, huge bags that when removed look odd. This bike fixes the "It doesnt look like a real sportbike, and sport riders don't want a RT / Connie / ST " when they park it at the beach next to the other "squids" Kawi did right by this bike for what it is. Its a Kawasaki Ninja, A real honest to jed Kawasaki Ninja with all the cred that goes with it.. not an old man's Honda ST1300. zoom zoom |

I'm curious if anyone has noticed if the price of insurance on the Ninja 1000 has gone down at all. I checked into it last winter and the only place with a decent price was State Farm. But, I would have to switch over my cars to get the good price and they charged way more for the cars. Do the insurance companies realize yet that this isn't a ZX-10?

The rates may go down depending on how many get crashed or stolen. Sooner or later there should be enough history that they can come up with more accurate rates. I also think there are a few companies like Progressive that just don't want to insure any kind of sport bike so they jack the rates so high they won't.
Kawaski caused the issue in the first place giving the bike a ZX serial number sequence...
