Don't tell Gus and Magoo there might've been an easier way out either.... :shhh

Thanks a TON Terry. I posted a Google Earth image of the route we missed in the Frog thread. Sheesh. I could have gone a few days without seeing that.

The Frog Bayou thread is here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=792609

Markar put the GPS tracks over there too.....not that I plan on going back. He describes a 5-foot drop into and out of the creekbed....how many of those did you go going north? I lost track, although by then I was walking up.

I see that too. There seems to be a pretty long steep grade there too, expected given that rapid elevation to get out so quickly from the falls.

since you were there, and that y'all came in from bidville road, would you go back up out that way to bidville from the falls? How steep was that?

Let me make it clear, I wouldn't be back down there again . But, in hindsight going back the way we came in would have been easier than the way we went out to the north. Not easy, but easier.

However, going in past the 2 washouts that Markar took seems like the best route in by far (from the cozieness of my office). That is mostly because you go up about 300-400' less in elevation to get to the point we turned around (washout) versus the north side of the bayou, or Bidville.

Terry'd know that better, since he road out (on a 4 wheeler) that way.

I didn't try going north but south to Bidville wasn't bad but there was a long rocky uphill that wasn't exactly fun. Looking at the elevation profile of my track, it's apparently pretty damn steep, I didn't remember it being quite that bad! Not sure which is worse, climbing those long uphills or trying to go down without wiping out

They sure are that is why I like them so much....remember as a youngin hearing them come by house on lime/chalk runs then our house had a long steep hill about a mile south and you could hear that wrist pin exhaust all the way up it. One of my fav memories.
Time for wine now and some more memories

The profile says lots, I really like that view. I assume mile 0 - 6 was your coming in from the east, and then mile 6 - 8 was going up that long uphill to the "town" of Bidville (we came down).

I wonder the profile to the north out of the Falls looks like....Terry?

thus the reason for a work crew comin in from the east...would be much easier to go back out that way than it would the way you guys came in and went out
