Lighting for the Project
I am thinking of using LED spots on tracks to light the space.
There are high intensity sodium lights that could be had but they are expensive to burn. Suggestions please

Tues 5:30 AM
The first of the trucks rolled in. Pickup truck with the cement mixer towing behind.
First order of business was to dust the concrete floor with sand and stacking loads of cinder blocks inside the garage. Sand will catch any of the mortar that is dropped during the building of the walls. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The electricians showed up to place the boxes in place ( all the outlets will be 4 feet off the floor) We talked about the placement of the out door lights and we added another outlet in the middle of the garage door (motion detector ) ![]() ![]() ![]() The plumber showed up to back filled the ejector pump and run the sewer piping connect to the house. He also had to adjust the height of the water pipe leading to the garage .. he was a little short The task today was to build the corners and have them inspected Wed afternoon after they are filled with slurry. Had to go to hardware store to buy a box of snake shots. A little visitor to the site and it got under the pallets before I could hit it with a shovel. I have a dog and 13 month old. Hate rattle snakes.......

Wed May 30
Lots of cinder blocks going up. Finished installing the ejector pump. Moving the existing sewer clean out on a sink other wise it would be buried in the back fill.
Met with framing crew today. We are adding an additional door to the upstairs and decided to build a 12 x15 deck of the second floor. Clear view to Phoenix and South Mountain. Will be connecting it to a treehouse being built later. Under the deck will be a play house for kiddies. (sand box and tire swing) Green cover of the pump, a delivery of rebar and elec. boxes taped and ready to be installed in the wall ![]() Gordon the owner of the compamy is in his 60's and still sling mud. (guy in the straw hat) ![]() They finished at 3:30PM and they had almost all the walls done for inspection at Noon Thurs. ![]() ![]()

I was thinking the same thing. There sure are a lot of inspections going on with this little project.

Inspections
I asked the same thing...
General contractor said 12....... The city no longer will do wall inspection We have to hired a special inspector since we are using Omni block. ( we pay out of pocket) $$ just keeps going out. The extra inspection was for the ejector pump otherwise would be only 10 inspections (part of the permit fees)

I just built a house a year ago and I remember the money flowing out like water. You soon become numb to it. I think our house was inspected maybe two or three times. And I thought I was over-regulated.

Electrical F..K up
Some yahoo.. in the past missed wired the main box.
Electricians opened the box this morning and this is what they found. Called the home warranty insurance company and said this wasn't cover because everything is still working. My electricians said .. if it is black inside it is not safe. HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES ![]() ![]() It's been a long day.. Update on the progress, passed inspection on the second level build before the next inspection. Lumber will be arriving next Wed. Framers are hoping to have rafters up within a week. Arrival of the grout truck (3 yards ordered but could only use 2.5 , wasted 1/2 yd) ![]() ![]() Pictures taken from finished 6 foot wall... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Window facing the east side in lower level of the garage. Lots of natural light without the heat

Wrong way 'round

My dad took the family to pinnacle peak restaurant (steakhouse) and I remember the ties they used to cut off if you came in with one. I'm assuming it must be up there somewhere and still open. good times!
