The KTM 500 XC-W Thread.

Does anyone have any pics of a 500 with the bigger aftermarket tanks?

I've seen the "KTM" tank in person (13L?) and like it.. but I've been putting off purchasing it waiting to see how the larger options look (i.e. how big an impact on the bike's width).

Does anyone have a tank larger than 13L yet on their bike?

I have one of the 5.3g on order from justgastanks, but they are not supposed to be in til mid-june now. I may let you see it

Tried my 500 on the hitch carrier today for the first time (usually it would go inside the van).
I finally figured out the right angle for the straps and such so that there is no rubbing on the plastics

I don't for-see the bike spending much time in this position.. but it's nice to have it figured out before hand for when I want to throw it on and head out spontaneously to moab or the like.







The overhead camera works well to keep an eye on things

It's not just California. The XC-W is in a gray area with regard to federal emissions. Some states it's a hassle to get it plated and depending on the county, it might be impossible. Sadly the choked down mapping and the extra junk hanging off the motor is the way of the future for all states in the US even though none of them have a real effect on actual emissions.

Hey Geek, not a 500 but a 530 with a 6.3g ktm tank. It doesn't seem to bother me. Weight is low.



Difference stock compared to 6.3

I think the same junior apprentice @ KTM who put half the rocker arms in upside down.... trued my front wheel.

I took the bike out on a road for the first time today... it was shaking so bad about 60mph my vision was blurring. Sure enough I looked at the front wheel and it has more than a 1/2 inch of left/right movement in its track.
