60csx help- No active route showing

I made a route in Mapsource and transferred it to my 60csx GPS. I have highlighted the route in my GPS and set it to "map". But when I go to my map page, the route flashes for about half a second, then disappears. I had to go back to the Route page, select the route again, hit "map" and then stay on that page and use the toggle to follow the map without going off of it.If I went to any other pages, I would have to do the whole thing over again.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I used this same GPS for a 2500 mile trip last year and had no problems. Thanks in advance.

I think the route will not show up on the main map page unless you hit select Navigate in the route properties page.

And then IMHO it will drive you crazy. This is why I navigate with tracks.

The Map option is just to show you where the route goes in case you forgot.

I agree. It takes more time to create the tracks in mapsource, but it is much easier to follow on your GPS while on the bike. You don't need to activate anything either. All you have to do is turn on the track and view the map and you're good to go.

You can use the free program WinGDB3 to convert Mapsource routes to tracks. It works great. I use it all the time.

Not necessarily. It depends on what you want to do.

There are several good discussion threads on tracks vs. routes.

You are doing nothing wrong you are just viewing the route on a map. One of the only reasons to do this is if you are not sure it is the route you want to ride (name it better if this is the case).

You need to select the Route the push "Navagate" and the route will be shown in pink on the map page and you can switche to any other page and come back to Map page and it is still navagating until you get to end point then it will clear.

As Dave said if you are doing 2,500 Mi trip, it must be on well established roads and routes are probably better than tracks which are much better for BLM/forest 2-tracks and trails.
