From this weekend 700km 'test' ride of tyres and cuffs. Soft-offroad, macadam, dirt, bad roads, good asphalt, wet, dry etc. Tyres performed excellent except on mud, as expected

Junkyard Consultant: Needed
I figure the geniuses who design & perform the bad-ass bike transformations here might be able to help find a part that I need. It's probably simple....but my parts bin knowledge is pretty limited.
I am looking for a small fan that will fit behind my WR450 radiator. The maximum width is 5". I think a 4" puller fan is what I need. Only thing that I saw on ebay was brand new and $50... Does anybody have one laying around, or know where I can find one that's affordable? I don't know of a bike sold in the US that came with such a small fan. Do any of you know of one? ![]() Thanks for any help. |

fans?
I run two 12v computer fans on my DRZ400E. Brushless and sumersible. Cheap as chips and never had one fail yet after 14000km.

Wait, are you saying all 12V computer fans are immersible?

Only the brushless units. I can only speak from my personal experience as i've had the fans underwater several times on this bike with no ill effects. They are light and mine are held onto the core with zip ties!

Care to post an Amazon or NewEgg link to the fan(s) you use?

Do I really have to? The things are 10 bucks each FFS. Do some research, buy em fit em and try it out for yourselves. Why does everyone have to defend their decisions on this site? cheeeesh.

I didn't expect such an easy favor to become a major task to you. It was more of a tried-and-true thing that I, and I'm sure others, would use vs. defending anything. But hey, if you're all about others maybe picking a bad brushless fan model that may not hold up to water as well as yours, throwing away $10 or $20, and getting stuck with no cooling out on the roads and trails, then I say fuck it - we suckers deserve to learn the hard way, too. ... Such a wrong thread for that attitude, lol.

Any 12V brushless computer fan will do the job well.
Temps out here stay over 40*C for 4 or 5 mths of the year, and these things run fine. I normally hook mine up to a simple switch, but a temp switch will work too.

Somebody told me to take a look at an EX250 Ninja fan. I looked at em' on ebay. They are pretty cheap & plentiful, but I'm not sure if they are thin enough to fit, especially between the Acerbis tank.
I'll take a look at the brushless computer fans. I know that they are thin, just didn't realize that they could handle the moisture of riding. And they're cheap. |

Put one on my KTM a couple of years ago and it still works. Really helped overheating issues.
