Masons are coming Saturday to finish to the rest of the walls .. and will have grout poured in Monday and inspection. They can then finish to the 18ft level on Tuesday ![]() ![]() Framing plan to start the 18th Dust Nazi wanted the hose moved to cover more of the lot. This man cave is shaping up to be a Garage Mahal. I may have to take a ride over for the "grand opening".

Nice project. I built a 36x30' last year with 10' high garage doors and a 11' ceiling height. Large doors and a tall ceiling gives the feeling of a bigger space. The same size garage with 8 or 9' ceilings looks funny. Why did you use cement blocks versus other materials? I must of missed it. Tom |

Omni block is contain. Paint the inside wall and stucco right on top of the cinder /omni block. Cost difference was $7K. The block had a better R and fire rating. I built the largest garage for my needs at the moment. New building codes are requiring a lot of steel for block and you have to meet new energy guide lines. Framing vs Block ..I think block has a cleaner look and I don't have to worry about termites. Lots of research before I committed to the Omni block.

You have to worry about termites if you have any wood in the structure. They will scale a 10 foot block wall to eat the rafters. They will travel a small void or crack behind the stucco finnish and they love to travel through styrofoam. I assume the building department required a treatment before approving pouring the footings and slab. GH

Monday, final week for cinderblocks.
5 man crew this morning. 3 to work the grout hose. We are now 14 ft mark and grout going up the hose gets heavy. Jerry (blue shirt Inspector) was here early to inspect the steel work. 3 man the hose one pouring and one with the vibrator in the cinder block.
![]() ![]() This afternoon was quite. We are waiting for block (will arrive on Tues around 9) Concerns were the saddle for the beam was not tight enough. The scaffolds are now at the 3rd level. One more to go. ![]() ![]() Had time this afternoon to hike up the ladder and take a few pics: Top looking down at the finish front level. Bolts are ready for trusses ![]() Cactus next to garage. Just a great old majestic cactus with lots of woodpecker holes. ![]() ![]() Old fashion way of hoisting block up ![]() ![]() Natural open space land behind my lot. Clear view to the south (Phoenix and South mountain range.) Fourth of July you can see the fireworks from Phoenix ![]() The house is my neighbor behind me. So far he has not been here since the winter. He is going to be surprised when he return to see the back of the garage. ![]() Picture of the tree where my son's tree house will be built.
