Ha. As I understand it there were about 1500 pictures snapped. You're seeing the best of the bunch.
We were like a bunch of Japanese tourists. ![]() Seriously, everybody has been doing this for awhile, and the cameras are so good these days. ![]() And it is amazingly beautiful in this part of the country. The pix from last year were very motivating.

For everyone that is sitting behind a keyboard wishing to do this trip: it is not that difficult to do most of this in a 3 day weekend. Get out and go. Email Joel for the tracks. The riding is relatively easy, packing all of your food and water is the most challenging part of this trip.

Indian Hollow Trailhead
After setting up camp Sunday afternoon we all rode to the end of the road past Indian Hollow Campground to see what the trailhead was about. Thunder River Trail I think they called it. We hiked in about a half mile to the ridge on the edge of Grand Canyon Park. Lot's of pics there as you've seen. None of us had any idea where the trail went. We just wanted to see what it was about, out there in the middle of the forest.
Like a dumbass I forgot to bring my camera, not knowing we were going to be treated to more stunning views. In fact, as I started out on the wilderness trail I thought to myself, "I'll walk out on this for a bit and if there's nothing much to look at I'm just going to go back to camp and relax.". Well, low and behold... Trailhead ![]() A half mile in is the park entrance with all kinds of data. What I found most interesting is the elevation changes and mileages going down into the park. From here to the river is just over 15 miles and 4000' of elevation change. Apparently each year a bunch of people have to get rescued out of the canyon that thought it was no big deal to walk down there and back. They get down there, get dehydrated and realize they're not going to make it back and have to be rescued. ![]() So, the next morning while everybody was getting up and around I grabbed a breakfast bar, my cup of coffee, AND MY CAMERA! And walked to the end of the road and back out the trail. Nice early-dawn views of the park here. ![]() ![]()

Aram - Day 1 Pics
Fuel the bike and the gut.
![]() The morning starts out clear and clean. ![]() Tenacious Frank and his awesomemobile. ![]() Regrouping after some crash testing. ![]() Beautiful day for a hike. I think the story has been told. This view looks back where we came from. ![]() Joel letting the bike get some rest. This was a fun hill. I'm glad Chris didn't bring the Versys. ![]() ![]() It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock'n roll. Paul, Ersin and Tim joining the band. ![]() The Ersin and the pea. Look out for gremlins. ![]() ![]() Progress. ![]() Ersin and Rich at the top. ![]() TBarstow. Sup dude. ![]() Ersin picks up a nail. ![]() My guard is always up when people approach in the middle of nowhere. Not quite crackheads in Victorville, but actually... ![]() Friendly dudes with kind words and cold beers. I gotta admit, they really did lighten the mood during the tire change. Hot water, baby. I have to find the video for this. We were all just cracking up... wtf is going on?! Where are we? Where the hell are Joel and Paul??? ![]() School house. Excuse me, replica school house. Reminded me of the hanging tree in Holcomb Valley... a tree just like this one... ![]() ![]() Bar 10... finally ![]() Rich - Tim's machine in the foreground. ![]() Chris, John (hidden), Jon, Ersin. Cool bikes everywhere.... I'd love to ride that SE if I could touch the ground. ![]() ![]() $7/gal 89octane? We'll take it. What's Tim doing on a quad? ![]() ![]() Photos fail to capture the majesty of the landscape. ![]() Bar 10 is a neat place. ![]() Well well well, look who's here... ![]() Ride. Rest. Repeat. ![]() Group B makes it to Toroweap in time to setup camp before dark. ![]() Tim showed me some tricks on my point-and-click. ![]() Good day. I'll get some video of the climb together... eventually. Have a good weekend guys.
