Oh PS. Nashville has earned a team in my opinion. Those fans are fucking nuts.

Long Island fans are loyal too. I mean 4 cups in 4 years! That is insane to think about. Fans keep showing up. It is a management problem, not a fan problem.

The issue is always management not fans. The fans stop going to protest management. Team moves. Fans riot. Team comes back.
But the Islanders are being thrown out on their asses by the people of Long Island so it doesn't matter. As for the Devils I'm sure they do but the area has too many hockey teams, and the people there are used to teams moving/popping up and having to change loyalties.

For the playoffs, what about during the regular season? I need to get center ice one of these years so I can actually stay current on the West.

Yep.

Case in point, the Atlanta Thrashers vs. the Nashville Predators.
A badly managed franchise that alienated fans vs a well run franchise
that packs enthusiastic fans into the arena.

Islanders fans would show up if management didn't keep fucking them over. At what point does it become clear DP is not their future goalie? The fans know it. Why doesn't management?

Your memory may be fuzzy, but it wasn't that long ago Boston was in the same boat as many of these other teams. You get stuck with an owner who will not spend the cash to make a winning team. If it had been any other team, they would have moved.

Hockey fans fall into 2 groups. You have fans that know the stats and players by heart. They can tell you who is in the AHL that are quality prospects. They love for the team no matter what. For example the Leafs suck. Let's not beat around the bush. They have been one of the most horribly managed franchises around for the past 15 years. They are the only team since the lock out to not make it to the playoffs. Now the fans across the board know hockey. They live it, eat it, and fuck it. No matter how much they suck fans will always show up.

Then you look at a team like the Penguins. If you go on any hockey forum and talk to their fans you come to realize their fans don't know shit about hockey. They have just been a team that is well managed. The fans, on average, can't tell you who is in and coming up from the farm teams. They can't tell you the stats. They are like the fans who go to red sox games to sing at the 7th inning and have the experience of going. The team always has one thing though. They always have a house hold name hockey player.

I respect the fans from group one. Teams like NJ, NYI, and Nashville fall into this group. Teams like the lightning don't.

Dare I say it, but the NYI deserve a team more then Pittsburgh. I will take intelligent fans over idiotic fans who show up wearing the same color tshirt on certain nights and know dick about hockey.

The key for me is the realignment. Move to four seven team divisions, drop two teams. Detroit moves east, Winnipeg moves west, islanders contracted, and until lately I would have axed phoenix.

I guess now I'd ditch a SE team and move columbus or Nashville to an east division.

I am liking this game.

Always blame Harry! It was not that long ago that I could any night I wanted and get cheap tix outside the Garden after dinner. Same for the C's. Big change...for the better. Hope I don't have to wait another 40 years.

At this level such a fundamental mistake is unforgivable. Quick reminded me of Patrick Roy handling the puck. Good grief!

Cap space makes baby jeebus cry.

Avalanche!

There's three reasons not to take stupid, dangerous, retaliatory penalties.
