Maybe not so relevant to the OP any more...

but getting your foreign vehicle into Burma, and crossing from Thailand to India, or v.v., is and will be nearly impossible until there are some real changes in Burma´s leadership. And even then it could take some time, before this became possible for the regular tourists. It´s a real pain for overlanders I know, because it´s blocking the only year-round route from South Asia to Southeast Asia (and while China is not 100% impossible, most of us do not either have, or simply do not want to spend that kind of money, that is required to cross China).

Malaysia, Thailand, Cambosia & Laos should be possible with your own bike. But do note, that Vietnam is another place, thats very hard to get your own bike into, unless you live or work there.
well, seems currently sort of impossible.

Yep, that was my posting. I think you do yourself a favour, if you just simply forget about crossing all of Burma by land. I do hope it will all change one day, but it has not, for half a century, so don't hold your breath.

India to SE Asia overland via China might be an option, but you have to want it real bad, and be prepared to pay BIG time!

Just recently saw some reports, that Tibet is currently closed for foreigners, so not sure, if the Nepal-China-Laos option is a realistic one right now. But you´d need to get in contact with a Chinese tour operator anyway, and they´ll certainly know about it.

Do also note, that the route goes through the Himalayas, and the Tibetan high plateau, so especially if you´re planning to go on 2 wheels, then winter is something to think about (it´ll most certainly be very severe in 5000 meters above sea level!)
