Ok, I spent an hour or so with Garmin trying to figure out the problem. I didn't know what to expect from Mapsource or City Navigator so I just assumed that it was low quality. They had me upgrade from Navigator 2012.2 to 2013.10 and now I can see everything.

I was so excited that it finally works I sat and planned enough trips for the next ten years lol.

Thanks for all the help. It was when Countdown said he could see a road that I couldn't that I knew it was a technical problem. All is well now.

Just remember that if road exists on City Navigator (or even visible on Google earth) it does mean that it is really there, or open or didnt turn into cool single track. In California it happens all over the place.

Try out its free!
Just use Track Creator and create your track using any of their maps (google, topos etc.) and download straight to your GPS in whatever format you want. You can also save you tracks and publish so others can view it. Who needs Mapsource anymore.
